Re: 2AZFE vs 1AZXFE engine compatibility

The 2AZFE and 1AZXFE are similar, but not the same. In order to run this engine in a Vibe you would need to have a custom ECU map created, and it's super hard to do that on these Toyota ECU's. The 2002 and 2003 transmissions are likely different in some way.

However, the Corolla 2003 5-speeds don't fail at the same rate as the Vibe/Matrix. I think we determined the transmissions are the same and the heavier Vibe/Matrix 5-speed fails due to the extra weight of the cars.

None of the 09-10 Vibes had a mechanical LSD.

Toyota made versions of the C60 six speed manual with an LSD, but I don't know if it was ever fitted to a Vibe from the factory. The C60 was only available on the Vibe in 03-05 GT's.

Ride height is determined by the spring.
The Corolla ones might wear faster, but we're talking about 100lbs difference between comparably equipped the Corolla (2600lbs) and Vibe (2700lbs).

Make sure to measure the height of the stock boot. I'm not sure 6" of material is enough.

Note: The "installed" picture for the tall shifter is the stock boot on a WRX, and the shorter shifter pictured is the stock boot for a BRZ/FRS.

O2 sensors are sensitive to environment. The longer time the O2 sensor spends outside of it's desired range, the more likely it will be broken.
