I can answer that. Its an automatic, which immediately implies that its a base model. The GT models were all 6spd manuals.

I'll second that. Should be a quick fix for any shop to handle. This probably wouldn't help you much, but I have a shop I would highly recommend in Kissimmee, FL (even though I don't live in the area anymore).

The fans run all the time when the A/C is on. If you have your vents set to defrost, even it you're blowing heat, then the A/C is running.

Now, if the A/C is off, then fan should cycle on and off as needed.

In my experience, my 06 base doesn't relock if the door isn't opened. My wife's 05 Corolla does, though... maybe this would work for me. ;-)

I was surprised they let me make the reservation with the Vibe as the tow car, because they make you specify. They officially had to downgrade the load rating, but no one batted at eye at what I was doing. I checked to make sure before I even bought the receiver.

I towed a UHaul 5x8 trailer 1000 miles from Florida to Texas with my automatic Vibe. Slow and steady. No problems, aside from terrible gas mileage.

Yes. Defrost turns on the AC and the radiator fan is always on when the AC is running.

Oh and aside from the cosmetic grill change, an 07 is 99% the same as an 04. ;)

The tranny issue is on the base model's 5 speed. You should be fine with any 1st gen GT and the 6 speed. In personal experience, I had an '05 5 speed go for 200K miles in my wife's Corolla, however it was a catastrophic failure when it finally went. It has a new tranny and we expect to get another 2...

The motor actuator is always under power and stalls out when the door is closed. Poor design by GM, one of the few non-Toyota parts in our cars.

I'm not going to be any help, but..... Are you sure its not an AWD? I thought the only 2nd Gens that came with the roof rack were the AWDs. Plus, as mentioned, it sounds like you're looking for an AWD wheel.

I went with a Curt hitch and wiring harness. I too have issues with the vibrating, but I deal with it. I think mine is due to the heat shield missing a nut on it. I don't know what it weighed in the end, but I towed a relatively full Uhaul 5'x8' trailer 1100 miles. How'd you get them to let you take that trailer? Did you rent it with another car? I got the same trailer with my 2010 GT no problem. Their website said it was OK and we could haul up to 1,800 lbs...
