Re: Transmission destroyed today

My used 6 speed arrived today! Got the yard to throw in a 6 speed knob, a leather GT steering wheel, and the clutch/pp/flywheel! What a great place to deal with. Speaking of clutch, who is the OEM for the 6 speed clutch? The one I got with the trans is a LUK, and it looks brand new. I'm thinking it ...

Transmission destroyed today

04 Vibe, just under 100k miles. Manual. It's been getting noisy for almost a year. Today, less than a mile from my home, the trans started to make REALLY bad noises. Clunks, whirring, etc. Something broke apart in there and chunks are circulating about. After coasting to a stop, I had no 1st or seco...

Re: Would this be a thermostat issue?

Low on coolant, or plugged heater core are possibilities, as well. Typically, a stuck open stat will give you heat when the car is idling in the driveway, but will overcool as you drive. It's not normal, though, for sure, your GF is wrong (but don't tell her that). It was -28C yesterday morning here...

I would do a quick check for a dragging brake caliper. They don't have to seize, they can just get hung up on the mount.

Re: High Mileage Synthetic

If you have a base Vibe, you need to figure out if you have the TSB dipstick. If not, you need to measure and make sure you overfill. I would also suggest using the larger GT oil filter. Both of these will allow you to run more oil, and that is always a good thing. It may have actually saved me from...

PSA: Check your OIL light ASAP!

Just finished replacing a faulty oil pressure sender, it was leaking. Alarmingly, it had also failed to illuminate the dash light. I had no idea that it wasn't working, and if I hadn't noticed the leak, I would have lost the engine. Your oil light (1st gen) is located right under the seat belt light...

Fixed. New sender in, no more leak. Also, my oil light now works. Happily, when I started the car, the light went out, so I may have just barely dodged a bullet. I'm going to start a new thread to tell everyone to check the function of their light. If the sender's bad, it may not work.

Bad oil leak, no oil light

Got home from work, and immediately noticed the oil on the driveway from when I left. Opened the hood, and oil was dripping fast off the filter. Think it's a bad oil pressure switch. Only leaks when running with pressure. Checked the dipstick, dry. Added a little Syntec 5 30 I had, about a litre, an...

You test them by watching the mV output in real time. They will get lazy before a code is thrown. Additionally, the rear O2 does not control AF mix.

Remember, the post-cat O2 only tells the computer that the cat is working. So, here is what I would do first. Put a fresh O2 in the pre-cat location, and move the old one to the post cat spot. Clear codes, drive, and watch your e-ready flags.
