Re: Just Rambling

to ramble some more: I am to new here to feel nostalgic about more active times. But I think this is still a healthy forum. When I joined the Mazda forum it was so dead I had to answer my own question! Then I started answering other guys' questions. While I spend a lot of time on car related forums ...

Re: Transmission doesn't want to go into reverse (sort of)

Fluids are fine and transmission works like its suppose to once its in gear. It doesn't slip at any time and doesn't always have the problem, but its getting more and more frequent. It seems like a linkage problem or a selector problem but not sure its its external or internal to the transmission. ...

Re: uncomfortable driver seat?

Thank you all for your responses. It seems the '09 and later model has improved ergonomics. At this point I am coming real close to KITT222's SCCA adjustment. The seat height is all the way up and the back is about 90 degrees in reference of the seat surface. It is quite comfortable now, just short ...

uncomfortable driver seat?

I am posing this as a question because everyone is different. I thought I share this so readers might experiment in similar fashion or may comment how they dealt with an uncomfortable situation. At first I found the seat in my 05 Vibe to be rather uncomfortable. It made me slouch and that caused pai...

Re: Finally found the 15" wheels I've been looking for!

That's cool Chiadog!
I just put new Michelin tires on the 16" wheels. These are great tires and accordingly pricey. But the old tires were so bad I had to replace them right away.
I am looking for 15" rims too, at least for the winter tires.

It's time for another heartfelt THANK YOU!! to joatmon and the other contributors.

05 Vibe. I replaced the bulbs with Sylviana 74LL, without rubber thingies. It took about 1 1/2 hours and went without a hitch.

I fixed the radio display. It took me about 1 1/2 hours. :D :D Without the how to the thread on GenVibe I would not have even tried.

The car is coming along: tires: done, radio: done, pet barrier: done.

Re: easy diy pet barrier

Nice simple fix. and I bet it doesn't rattle! Thanks! You are correct. the barrier only has contact with the soft head rests and therefore it does not rattle. The first version was sitting lower and had a chance to knock against the hard seat back. That's one pretty Golden Retriever in your avatar!

I changed the cabin air filter.
From the looks of it the filter I pulled out was as installed at the assembly line in 2005.

Re: easy diy pet barrier

I attached the barrier to the head rests using 2 nylon straps (yellow, about 40”) and 2 lengths of strap (white, about 36”) to keep it from migrating down. The white strap is tied to the grid just behind the headrest. The loose end of the strap runs over the headrest and is tied to the head rest...

easy diy pet barrier

My first adaptation was a pet barrier. I found a panel of VersaPad at a local Theisen’s farm supply store for about $20. The overall size is 4ftx 2ft and it is large enough to make 2 pet barriers. VersaPads are made of a plastic with 1 1/8” o. c. grid. They are easy to cut with a straight blade ...

Re: AC not working - light doesn't come on

Jolt gives you good advise.

In case you find the fuse is good consider this: Most AC systems have a pressure safety switch. If there is a leak and the pressure drops too much the AC will not work. This prevents damage to the compressor.

I do a lot of mountain driving and I have been known to drive aggressively on those awesome mountain passes. Re: Learned a new trick to get the A/C to blow colder

I'd guess you increase the risk of overheating in conditions where the car is not moving and the ambient temperature is high. Without the makeshift duct, the radiator fan pulls some ambient air through the rad without it passing through the condenser as well. As you can imagine, with the AC on full...

I think a little chrome around the grille would be nice because it would go very well with the wheels you have.

Hi Makorka!
Welcome to a new member by a new member. I just joined this weekend myself. I did not know the Vibe was available in Europe. Yours is very nice. Maybe it was not crashed at all and the previous owner removed the chrome or painted it to give the car a stealthy look.
