Re: P0741=Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off

This is a code for a circuitry problem, not an actual transmission problem. It depends what damage has been done to the electronics and where the damage is. Rebuilding the transmission is very expensive. Unless you're a technician and can do all the labor yourself, you're better just getting a repla...

The 1ZZ is non-interference, so the worse case scenario if the tensioner wasn't extended would be your timing might be off. I have set timing with the engine in the bay and it's not so bad. Look at your brake rotors. Are they smooth, or are the gouged and scraped up? Look at or feel both sides, not just the easily visible side. If you have a bad caliper or plugged brake lines, you could have a dragging brake pad, bad enough that the friction material comes off the brake pad backing pla...

Any time the car is moving, the engine bay will be quite cool. Think about what's in front of the air filter: just the headlight and battery, no heat there really. The gap under the headlight and under the hood will be giving your intake lots of air.

Here are the transfer case plugs. The auto transmission is filled like an FWD auto, and drained the same way.

Fill the transfer case until the oil is level with plug 1 in the diagram. Plug 2 is probably a vent plug or something.
