Re: Opinions wanted........... (d_m_kolb)

I agree. I was also leaning more towards the Matrix until I found out you can get the Vibe with the monotone appearance package option.Definately makes a big difference!(...all in my opinion, of course!)

Don't worry, I won't laugh! At least soon you will have your Vibe to drive around and it will be worth it!Yeah I live right near the GM Lordstown Plant which solely produces the Cavalier/Sunfire line... so needless to say, in about every 10 cars in this area, at least one is a Cavalier/Sunfire! Waiting4Vibe: Are you getting rid of your Sunfire? If so, what are you going to do, trade-in or private sell? I'm still deciding myself. I know I can make a little if I sell privately.... but a trade-in is too easy (minus no profit from it though! )

Re: What else did you consider (Waiting4Vibe)

Wow, how weird! I am somewhat in the same situation right now. I currently have a Cavalier (01) and the first time I saw the Vibe/Matrix, they started to grow on me each time I either saw a pic of 'em or read more into their features and specs. Can't wait until I get a chance to actually have one. H...

What type of insurance rates are you looking at when classified as a station wagon? I would assume the rates would be average or lower than normal.

Plus, now that I actually looked at the tread on the 17" tires, you can visibly see that they are made for dry/rain conditions only. There is visibly no deep grooves on the tires in order to grip in the snow. Thanks for the info.

I don't know how much this changes anything, but I looked up the Vibe/Matrix on NHTSA's (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website (http://www.nhtsa.gov) and they categorize the vehicle as an SUV.Here is the direct link:http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/NCAP/Cars/2003SUVs.htmlAlso, they still h...

17" wheels/tires in snow?

Knowing that the 17" stock wheels are equipped with summer-rated tires, I asked a couple salesman about the ability of driving in the snow with these. Most of them said it was okay to drive in the snow but cannot fairly be compared to actual all-season or snow-tires.So is it actually feasible t...

Yeah, I have seen a couple base models with the 17's. You can also 'custom build' a Vibe (at http://www.gmbuypower.com) with them, although it is not as common to see them on a base than it would be for the GT.The GT and AWD models are still very scarce in my area.Someone else that saw that pic also...

I saw a pretty nice looking Mazda Protoge5 today while driving around and snapped a pic. [400k, sorry 56k users] http://nicksimkins.com/misc/mazda_mp5.jpg Too bad the vehicle is underpowered. The price is reasonable for the options included. The one pictured was about $18,500... [Modified by NSimkin...

Stopped out at the lot today and snapped a pic of the tape on the door. The pic is about 400k (sorry 56k users) but in enough detail to see.You can notice the tape overlapping in the center of the pic which is near the corner of the front driver's side door.Hope this helps.

Ryan, I will agree with you about black cars... you gotta keep them clean to get noticed!I also do notice how the front-end of a vehicle sometimes resembles people (in your case Darth Vader). Also some just look agressive (almost all new Pontiac's) and solid. Nick [Modified by NSimkins, 2:30 PM 6/10...

I was looking at a Jeep Liberty but the horrendous gas mileage and recalls out the wahzoo quickly turned me off of it.The Vibe is still my only choice when the time comes (this year) to get one.
