You may want to pull the ECM and the fuse box from the engine bay. Inspect the ECM for any signs of damage to the wiring, connectors, and the board. Could it be a gasoline pick up problem in your gas tank or a float sensor problem in your gas tank? How low was gas level in your tank when the shutoff's occurred? Does it ever shutoff when the gas tank level is half full or more?

When you have the belt off, check that all the pulley's spin free and smooth. Tension the belt properly. If the belt is loose it will do what you are describing, and if the belt is to tight it could take the bearings out on the pulley shafts.

Another thing to try is to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to clear the ECM memory. It will take about 100 miles driving for the ECM to re-set itself after the memory is cleared.

The rears are not struts but are coil over shocks. I believe Monreo owns Gabriel, or they use to own them, I am not a 100% sure on that now. In general, the Monreo's are softer, smoother riding then the KYB's are. If you put KYB on the front then I would stick with KYB for the rear too.
