Yea, I'd take the belt off and turn the various items by hand.Check the belt tensioner assembly.Once a belt has started to squeeeel a lot it is cooked.Only use a GatorBack belt.

On my older GM's I always used AcDelco. Anything else had a bad reputation from the good mechanics in my area. Just like plugs, I'd go with OEM.

New a guy that got his car painted on Friday and was keyed while in his driveway. The paint was not cured yet so the repair was much more costly.As a side note, I've never heard of a keyer get caught.One reason I don't have bumper stickers.
