I paid $2.79 a few days ago (and that's without any discounts), but the cheapest I've seen is $2.74. I hope these prices stay low so that the next time I'm filling up I can run over to the Kroger and knock another $0.20 off per gallon.

You may consider using carpet padding if money is tight. If you go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask for the cheapest padding they have, they may have remnants in the back you can use.
