wow you are lucky that didn't roll.first off those are not tow hooks they tie downs for car haulers when the vehicle gets shipped. to fix that you will need a new lower core support, the tow truck driver should of known that . i would think they would be liable for the damage. good luck

i am pretty sure it is an air baffle for the intake, i got the front end apart on a wrecked project car right now... its funny though i thought the the same thing when i got the bumper off.

i have the same tires as lovemyraffie, the general altimax hp and love them. i have about 30000 miles on them and they are pry only 50% worn out. alot better than the factory ones that wore out at 30000, pos conti.
just an idea from some older posts i have read, it may be your serpentine belt tensioner the are somewhat common when you get a engine noise and it is in the area where it could be mistaken for timing chain noise. i have only seen one timing chain let go in the dealer ship and it was on a gt model o...

yeah i hear ya... got the current vibe i am working on for under 5k, has 7k miles on it... so when i am done i will have like 7 or 8 k invested in an almost new car. will post pics when done
http://erepairables.com/found this website a few years back and have bought about 4 cars and fixed them. worth a look if you like to do body work. the prices are pretty good
here's another way to check the cat.. this way is a little bit noisy though. pull the o2 sensor out infront of the cat and drive it with the o2 sensor unplugged. this should allow enough flow to run better. you will have a check engine light after this. or if the cat is after the down pipe just unbo...
idle air control the iac would cause more of an idle problem not a performance problemi just had a problem with mine and it just wouldn't stay steady at idle. but mine was a wiring problem from a previous accident. my own fault for not replacing the conector.
+2 on catalytic converter. an easy way to check would be to put your hand behind the exhaust and have someone else rev the engine there should be a fair amount of flow. if there's not alot of flow then its pry pluged. good luck
it definently doesn't lack power, or braking for that matter. when i had atv on it i had trouble holding 6th gear at 60 on some hills, but at 75 it pulled fine. dropped my fuel economy to 25 mpg ,normal was like 30 at that time. ussually gets 32 ish
not brave enough to pull them in the snow. i am crazy when it comes to snow driving. all i here when the wife if with me is slow down!!! lol plus the road in michigan lately don't get plowed to quickly when it snows
right before the snow fell me and my dad picked up some new toy for this winter with the vibe. she pulled them beautifully. got to ride them a couple of times... snows melting too fast this year ... i am always amazed at what the vibe can do.
i got a hook up (kinda funny how it works.. my dad works in a pontiac dealer and gets it written up for employee discount and then changes it himself and gets paid from the dealer to do it) to get my oil changed for $5 bucks so i do it every 3000
i have to agree with raven your alternator looks good. if it was bad it wouldn't be putting out 14v, from the test results of the output having amperage n/a i am guessing the tech had the tool hooked up wrong because to get the battery above 14 volts while running it would show some amps being put o...
you got the same tires i got... i love them... i have abought 25 to 30k on them and they are like half worn out... good choice, will pry put them on my other cars too
well since you have a new battery that leaves like 2 or 3 other things it could be.positive wire to starter starter or ground from engine to batteryif you have a volt meter you can check the wiringyou will want to check the voltage drop on both sides of the starterfor the positive cable put one lead...
not to contradict anyone but could it also be the stability control system(anti roll control) if he is turning while hitting brakes hard...just a thought never driven the newer ones with the system
I bought my 04 gt smashed with 1600 miles on it and rebuilt it... now i have 65000 on it and havn't had a single problem i even rebuilt it again after i hit a deer. you just can't take short cuts when you rebuilt it.
does anyone know if there is a reflash out there on a 04 vibe gt for the computer to lower the rpm range for the vvt, i would think if it would kick in at 5500 rpm instead of 6300ish you would have alot more power band. plus when you shift it would still be in the power band.
