It has to do with the exhaust pipes being smaller to route around and next to the driveshaft.

AWD Exhaust Gaskets - First Gen

I developed an exhaust leak on my 2003 AWD recently and finally had time to show it a little attention. If you go to your nearest parts store and tell them you have an all wheel drive model they will either tell you "We do not have a listing for your exhaust system" or will simply give you...

Within the past month I had a faint smell of antifreeze after driving the car for longer than 5 minutes. It turned out my thermostat gasket was seeping between the outlet and the block. Took the time last night to flush the entire system, install a new thermostat, gasket and serpentine belt. All bac...

Even though the exhaust is insulated traveling down the firewall and under the floor, heat will penetrate that area and radiate through your console area. Especially long travel with no stops.

I'm glad someone did mention evaporator freeze-up and not many are mentioning the cable adjustment. The system is design to not freeze-up like prathman mentioned but only on a stock, unmodified system.

Well I removed the pipe from the airbox that runs below the battery. The flexible part was rotten completely through. I cleaned up the battery tray area, installed a new battery hold down bracket, and gave it a test drive. The flexible part is held to the plastic tubes with staples, I will probably ...

I would like to say its "normal conditions" but I guess you just never know. I have a 2003 AWD and in the mornings and cold days after sitting at work for 9 hours I hear a periodic chatter. There are a lot of factors involved with valve chatter, especially if maintenance (e.g. regular oil ...

Re: Engine chatter (RedRocket)

When the engine starts cold it only takes a split second for oil to reach the valve-train, under normal conditions. You will hear a little chatter within the warm-up process while the oil is coating all surfaces in the head.

Intake Tube Rotten

Recently bought an 03 AWD and slowly fixing small problems from neglect over the past 130k miles. The flexible intake tube that runs below the battery rotted through from battery acid dripping on it. There was one post back in 2005 about the same issue but with a few more years of use I was wonderin...

Just picked up my first Vibe AWD and figured my first post should be in with my fellow "Southerners". Not too many Vibes in the area and even less AWDs.
