Re: Front end creaks and pops

They replaced the strut mounts too, but it was Pep Boys, so who knows what cheap brand they used. The struts themselves are Monroe.
I'll have my local shop check it out and advise. I'll let you know what it was!

Front end creaks and pops

I've noticed an issue in the past couple weeks with creaking/popping sounds from the front end at low speed, like maneuvering in a parking lot (or drive thru :). My first thought was a strut issue, but I had them replaced just about 20,000 miles ago, so that wouldn't be my first guess. I raised the ...

Re: Intermittent shaking at all speeds

It will happen at any speed. Usually it begins at highway speeds, and will continue all the way down to a stop. The weird part is the intermittent nature of it. It feels just like an out of balance wheel - when it started I thought a wheel weight had come off, it was so sudden - but I've never had a...

Intermittent shaking at all speeds

My Vibe started having this issue a couple weeks ago. I'll be drivign along, and suddenly the wheel will start to shimmy in my hands, feeling like an out of balance wheel. It will increase in intensity within a couple miles to the "I should probably pull over" stage, and then it will just ...

Re: Arizonian Silver Edition

I got a set of these about a year ago, I've been pretty pleased with them. Relatively quiet, decent wet grip, and not bad in snow. For the price they're tough to pass up.

Re: New Head Unit Installation

I installed the same head unit in my '05 with M&T. It needed an adapter (Pac soem-4 via Crutchfield). Install was pretty straightforward...the instructions were a bit lacking in detail, but I wired it up as it said (I've only installed one other head unit and that was over 20 years ago, so I'm b...

Roof rail end cap?

So, I noticed the front cap on my driver's side roof rail has departed. No idea when or how. I can't even find a part number for that little piece. I'm thinking I should be able to score one at a salvage yard. I've also thought of super-gluing a few Lego men up there, but I digress. Has anyone else ...

No doubt. I was remembering from my last head unit install, when there was barely room for the extra wiring behind the radio.

Re: Yet another HU install w/Monsoon

Well, I connected everything up to the car saturday and it worked perfectly! Plenty of room for that PAC module behind the radio. The sound is awesome...amazing what a difference just changing the head unit makes. Now on to the speakers...

Yet another HU install w/Monsoon

So I took the plunge and decided to replace my stock head unit...I went thru Crutchfield to order, and selected the Pioneer FH-X700BT. My delivery arrived last night and I got to work wiring everything up between the harnesses and the PAC SOEM-4 adapter. Between reading posts on here and a quick cal...

Well, I was able to find some free time Sunday and replace the regulator. It was much simpler than I thought. I spent more time fiddling with the door's moisture barrier than swapping out the part. The issue I was having was a different issue entirely than the recall. One of the two arms that holds ...

Well, the window worked for a while, and then started popping out again a few months ago. I went to repair it again, but tightening the bolt made no difference this time. The dealer refused to consider it under the recall when I took it in there. So...just received a new Dorman regulator from Amazon...

It turns out the issue was a bad front strut. Oil came pouring out of it as soon as they put it on the lift.

Thanks, I'm taking it to my mechanic in the morning to have it checked out. I'm hoping it's just something that worked itself loose, not a bad steering rack...eek.

Shudder over bumps

I have a recent issue that seems to have suddenly developed. When driving, I can feel a shuddering sensation through the steering wheel when going over minor bumps/cracks in the road. Where normally I might hear them but not feel them, I now get a vibration and shudder - it's hard to describe, but t...

I had mine replaced yesterday at a local Chevy dealer. The work took only an hour. I did notice a difference in operation, the tranny seems to shift smoother...not that it was really harsh before. Has anyone else noticed a difference in how the accelerator seems to react? Mine seems less aggressive....

Forgot to add, it also includes a reimbursement form if I'd already paid for the repair. There's no time limit afa how long ago it was done. Questions about reimbursement can be directed to 1-800-204-0261 fyi.

I think GM and Toyota used both PCM and ECM to refer to the same component. I'd look up who used which term but I'm knee deep in sausage gravy at the moment.

Thanks for that info, does anyone have the recall campaign number? I saw references to a window recall in other threads, but it appeared to only apply to '03-04 models.Last friday, I took my door panel off (super easy) to see what the problem was...the glass had come out of the rear window regulator...

Re: 2005 power window broken (chris777)

Funny, my '05 started doing the same thing yesterday with the driver's door...started angling forward as it was lowered. I was able to gently seat it back into place, but didn't want to bend the lifting mechanism. I'm wondering if that is the issue under recall for the previous model years.

I went to OSU, mostly for the cheap tuition They do have tuitino increases across the board, but out of state students pay a much higher rate. This site is a great resource, my first (and only so far) mod was the Home Depot welcome/cargo mat...great idea!

Re: Who got a letter about a recall (djkeev)

Looks like the mass mailing went out this week. The letter is just a heads up, and says that another letter will be sent once parts are in stock to do the work. It doesn't have a lot of details beyond that.
