Re: Advice for some curb checking damage? (keithvibe)

(removed) KeithVibe! You were right! My hubcap popped right back into place! I don't need a new one and it looks normal again! Thanks so much!

Re: (Kincaid)

You guys are such a great resource. I like to worry a lot about my car... but being able to get some answers and insights here really calms me down. Will try to post a picture without the hubcap, but am working all weekend and might not be able to for a few days. I need an oil change soon, maybe the...

PS Could I maybe just hammer my hubcap back into place a little? Is that a dumb idea?

Re: (vibedrivermatt)

Given my parallel parking skillz... I think I need the extra wheel protection. This incident however was not while parking - I did it while taking a tight turn onto a crowded street.

Advice for some curb checking damage?

So I'm probably asking a question that any car owner should know, but I'm a new first-time car owner... and I love my Vibe... but I think I hurt it.I curb checked pretty hard here in the city and I couldn't back up so I kinda plowed through it. The result is some bend in the tire cover. The inside p...

Re: (2Dogs)

Hmm. Does this mean I should have taken mine to a mechanic? I bought it at 75,000 miles, have put 2,400 on... and haven't bothered taking it any to see anyone. I also haven't been to the dentist in a while. Sigh.

I use Thule for the ski rack, but apparently they have a versatile ski/bike version.

Re: Need buying advice.... (scarps626)

For your comparison as you shop - I bought a 2003 with 75K for $7500 and it's excellent. I drove it 1100 miles for its inaugural trip and it's been a great city car ever since. But I think you will have to go higher mileage or older to stay in your price range. I remember looking within 100 miles of...

Will do! Need to get the bird poop off the thing anyhow. My poor vibe is street parked in Washington, DC. Lots of birds.

Re: New Windshield on my '03 Salsa (HawaiiPontiacLover)

I did not think to check BBB - this is what you get when you don't own things for years on end that require services. But good news is they are accredited and have an A+ rating. I'm probably worrying too much, new mom style - but instead of a baby I have a used Pontiac.

Re: New Windshield on my '03 Salsa (HawaiiPontiacLover)

It was a glass only company. My insurance company (GEICO) suggested a company that was going to charge me $45 more than these folks (a bigger corporate shop v. a more local one - I went more local with a suggestion from a friend who had used them).

New Windshield on my '03 Salsa

So my Vibe had a windshield chip (that was filled) from before I bought it. After a cross-country driving in the freezing cold, that chip grew into a crack, first a half inch - then it was up to two. I went ahead and got a new windshield yesterday since they couldn't fill it again, and so I could do...

Re: New Member! New (DCViber)

Made it back to Washington, DC! Put 1,100 miles on the Vibe. Took 80-74-70 then 68-70-270-435. Only problem is a small windshield nick thanks to the copious amounts of sand on every road I drove. Getting that fixed today. Also parked on the street and can't quite handle it. I think I love my car too...

Re: New Member!

I'm in Nebraska now and drove all around in the snow yesterday - the Vibe handled it well! I think based on the weather I'm going to opt for the 74 to 70 route - across Iowa on 80 today, cut south across Illinois on 74 and into Indiana for 70, then across Ohio tomorrow, and I'm overnighting in Pitts...

Re: New Member! New (Feelin' The Vibe)

So after a month-long wait, I finally picked up my Vibe! Then... it immediately snowed 18 inches. The Vibe has only traveled about 3 miles in as many days. I can't even tinker around in the back because it's in my parents' garage an there isn't room to maneuver. On Monday the Vibe and I start our 110...

I don't even know what a chassis number is. But let's just say sure - why not. My vibe is the first vibe of all the vibes! I will name it Adam, or maybe Eve?

New Member! New (Old) Vibe!

Hi - I just bought my first car ever which happens to be the first Vibe ever! I picked up a 2003 salsa Vibe with 75,000 miles that was seriously doted on by its first and only owner (before me). It's waiting for me at the dealership. Though soon enough I'm going to drive it 1,100 miles in two days i...
