Those bulbs are not easy to get a grip on.

In your case probably easier to replace the mirror than to try to replace just the light socket part.

One thing to try first is to exercise the switch repeatedly multiple times to see if that might clean up dirty switch contacts.

If you have the original hood, there should be a vacuum hose routing diagram on the underside of it.


I looked at my 03 base, a "diaphragm operated flapper on the intake box" wasn't immediately obvious to me. Probably says more about me than the car ;)

The shifter light bulb is right under the PRND21 marks. I replace mine by fidgeting with the plastic strip with the marks to work it out of the way. That's an odd problem.

Two questions

- When your headlights are on, do your tail lights light up

- The wiring diagram shows two red with white stripe wires going to the DRL module. Are you sure you cut the correct one?

... a 5 spd manufactured before 04/2004 ... My understanding is that the earlier year 5 speeds were the ones prone to bearing issues. Why do you one manufactured before 4/04? Not sure if its the seal that is on the door or the door frame, but they're both about the same. As long as it's not torn, you should be able to just stuff the rubber back into the channel. There's no adhesive on mine, I can pull it off, push it back in

did the 180 degree spin on the fresh/recirc servo today. Inner gear looked like it had one critical tooth stripped. Went with the pull dash top method for access, no way could I get my hands in there otherwise, and even with the dash off, it was still a pain to get those two 5.5mm screws out.

Dealer says they've ordered parts for mine. Between my Tacoma, my Matrix and this Vibe, and maybe my previous Vibe, I've lost count of how many times I've had to go in for Takata airbag recalls. I spent some time looking at my 2003 today. The plastic interior door panel has a flange or lip that extends past the door frame. Since removing that panel involves pulling it off the door at the bottom, there is no way to do that with the door closed, its sandwiched between the door and door frame....

My 03 does that. Unlock with the remote and do not open a door, it will auto re-lock. I also think there's no way to change it. A security "feature", kinda makes sense. I havent found it to be a problem, if I ever hit unlock instead of lock while walking away and it auto re-locked, I didnt notice

I thought I had a similar problem in my 03 with M&T, and was preparing to full diagnostic when I discovered that the terminal lug had completely corroded off the white wire going to my front driver speaker .So I had an easy fix.

I bought this one used about 60k miles ago

My 03 also has nothing in that hole near the pcv, I don't think we're missing anything. hogdoctor had two likely suspects for the oil. Good thing is it doesn't look like much.
