Looking at some ford forums, it seems ford did have a "2.77" 3 speed with unsynch 1st in that year. To be honest, all I can testify to is that particular instance of a vehicle had an unsynch 1st, whether by design or failure (or design failure ;) ) but thats a thread hijack maybe a different shifter...

Those bulbs are not easy to get a grip on.

In your case probably easier to replace the mirror than to try to replace just the light socket part.

One thing to try first is to exercise the switch repeatedly multiple times to see if that might clean up dirty switch contacts.

If you have the original hood, there should be a vacuum hose routing diagram on the underside of it.


I looked at my 03 base, a "diaphragm operated flapper on the intake box" wasn't immediately obvious to me. Probably says more about me than the car ;)

The shifter light bulb is right under the PRND21 marks. I replace mine by fidgeting with the plastic strip with the marks to work it out of the way. That's an odd problem.

Two questions

- When your headlights are on, do your tail lights light up

- The wiring diagram shows two red with white stripe wires going to the DRL module. Are you sure you cut the correct one?

Not sure if its the seal that is on the door or the door frame, but they're both about the same. As long as it's not torn, you should be able to just stuff the rubber back into the channel. There's no adhesive on mine, I can pull it off, push it back in
