I have had my base vibe up to 190 KM/HR which is about 119 MPH. I am not kidding or exaggerating. Maybe some did not get the limiter? I also felt relativley stable which was a welcome surprise.I have an old Duster that I have hit 135MPH with but it did not feel safe at all.

Personally I never buy extended warranty on anything. That's always been my plan. If I ever need to shell out some serious cash for anything I am POSITIVE I have saved more than that amount over the years. You can insure yourself to the max for "peace of mind" but when you add it all up......

Not dissagreeing with the small battery thing but as a side note, larger CCA batteries live a much shorter life usually. I live in Canada and had good starting all winter. The coldest plugged in night -35C the coldest not plugged in night was about -25C with no trouble.

When you are talking about the GT staying in the torque band, that is 130ftlb. period, end of dicussion (a bit more with CAI...). If the base/SC has any where near the claims of torque (170ish) and its laced across the whole range, I can't see any reason the GT would have a chance. I'll likely never...

My wife and I had to make the same call; Vibe or CRV. Both excellent choices. We chose the Vibe because it was less expensive, cheaper to operate and more fun to drive. We both love it and have never regretted the decision. (5000KMS so far)

I would think an engine block that revs up to 8200 RPM would likely wear faster then the very similar engine that tops at 6200RPM (or whatever redlines they have) I agree that being a Toyota engine (and giving regular care) would result in super long engine life. I unfortunately grew up in the times when we were switching from IMP to metric. I have learned most units both ways. To make it worse, in engineering tech. we had to cross back and forth between these two systems ALL THE TIME, the professors did their best to trick you into giving the wrong answers ...

that's 29 MP Canadian gallon. Our gallon is 4.54L while I think yours is 3.73L. So in US MPG it is less, more like 24 MPG US.

Have you tried a winter front? When i have driven my Vibe (not AWD, sorry) in -30 or colder, the engine temp does not rise up to its normal position no matter how long I drive it. Power seemed fine but mileage seemed to drop considerably!

Nope, rear drum. The braking has ample power though. The rear brakes only account for 30% anyway. The available 17" tires on the GT do give better cornering though. The trade off would be smoothness in regular driving situations.
