" STICKING " ignition swith ??

Every so often, when trying to start my 2010 Vibe, the ignition switch gets " stuck " in a forward starting position. The starter just keeps spinning & it doesn't start. I can remove my hand from the key & it still spins over. I have to manually turn the key to off & try again....

Yes, it was honored once their GM mechanics were able to hear the noise & read the bulletin I had given to them. It will be interesting to see if GM now issues the same bulletin for their Vibes. It is for the 1.8 engines.

The parts that are probably damaged, are emission parts & covered under warranty. BUT, dealers know very well why these parts get damaged & may refuse to replace them. You could take it to any GM dealer & try, though. If they try to charge you, expect a quote of $450 , up. Til you get it...

Turn motor off & look under the hood at the fuse/relay box. Remove the one for A/C Clutch Relay & replace it with the one for the horn , [ same thing ] located in the same compartment . Start car & turn on a/c. If it works,, you know you need to buy one !!!

I have seen this happen to other cars as well. I never had any luck drying the cannister out. A friend's Corolla did that, [ he filled every tank to the top ] & I told him what was wrong with it. He went to a junkyard & they sold him everything, cannister & all related parts, for $40.

Yesterday, I talked to the dealer where I purchased my new 2010 Vibe. He said that he wished he could find some, because people are still calling him & wanting to buy a new one. He said that he has to refer them to a Matrix. Just TOO BAD !

All the items replaced were made of rubber & plastic. I was sure that at least the valve was defective. She got all of the parts for $50. I think we have all been guilt of trying to get " every last drop " of gas into the tanks. But, with newer cars, it is a bad habit.

You have gotten good advice. I have seen those R134 cans with attached gage, & the gage didn't work correctly. Every time you used in, it would show the exact same pressure. Too little or too much pressure is not good. A trained a/c tech is most often needed. Having a good A/C is worth it.

I am not sure this is the cause, but DO NOT overfill gas tank. DON'T " fill to the brim." This can cause $$$ problems with new cars. Also, sounds like there may be water in the fuel. Add a can of Seafoam && " HEET " to remove & clean.

An old mechanic's tip, to keep from a hood slamming on your head, because of a weak strut. Open & clamp a "Vise-grip" to the strut's inner rod where it won't close. Better than a broomhandle !! Works til you can buy new ones.
