Hi Everyone... Anybody think this is much of a concern if I don't put this back on? Does the muffler really heat up the metal under the spare tire that much? Check out this video from engineering explained. At 1:50, there's about 50 degrees Celsius difference around the shielded area. https://www.y...

Hi Everyone... I have a 2005 Vibe Base - lost the same heat shield yesterday in the rain. Picked it up off the highway. Almost hit the lady in back of me. I had previously had the gas tank heat shield bouncing around, tied it up with zip ties like many others. I had assumed this was the same one. N...

That red wire is part of the circuit for the fuel gauge. I think you still need to check the fuel pressure to see if the pump is bad.

No need to jack up the car. It's easier to access the serpentine belt if you remove the passenger side front wheel and the engine splash shield. The work can be done from the top. Remove the fan and the alternator for easier access to the pump.

When I drove on the I-20 at 70 mph, the 1.8 1ZZ-FE had to rev up to 4k rpm for every small hill. If I lower the speed to 60 mph, it took the engine much less effort. So I think it's common for the vibes.

I think a mismatched color hood shows the poor condition of the car and a careless owner. A wrapped or dipped hood makes a rice car though the onwer may have no such intention. I recommend just sand down the hood and use spray cans to give it several layers of color matching base coat and clear coat.
