Hydraulic system should have better damping compared to a simple spring system. This spring based tensioner may resonate at a certain rpm.

No problem. I've done 2600 miles trips several times. Keep a cooler with ice and your favorite beverage on the passenger seat.
Even if anything breaks down remember it's a 9th gen corolla. You can get it fixed anywhere and be back on the road in hours.

The clip on bezel is broken. A common problem on the vibe. I got a replacement from Toyota for 20 or 30 bucks. But I prefer to superglue it if I have to fix it again in the future.

Welcome to Genvibe. See if you can fix the old pipe. Otherwise Toyota exhaust pipe is well made but may be more expensive than aftermarket ones. Considering the high mileage of the car I suggest spending as little as possible.

That red wire is part of the circuit for the fuel gauge. I think you still need to check the fuel pressure to see if the pump is bad.

Finally cut the wire of DRL and Installed LED headlights. These light bulbs have the LEDs in the same places of the filaments of the 9003 halogen bulbs. So they give a comparable light pattern with the factory reflector. They are not too bright but better than the factory 55W halogen. And they are ...

By the way. My tires are of 225 width.
The range is 10-48. For my tire width, +30 on the front and +15 on the rear will look nicely.

Replaced the high mount brake light. The last one Sylvania worked for 7 years. Rotated the wheels.

I have wheels of +35 offset. The front wheels are very close to the fender walls. But the rear wheels are still recessed.

There are some bolts behind the water pump seeing from the top. But you can feel them and loose/tight them with a deep socket.

No need to jack up the car. It's easier to access the serpentine belt if you remove the passenger side front wheel and the engine splash shield. The work can be done from the top. Remove the fan and the alternator for easier access to the pump.

Wash and wax. But the paint is oxidized and needs polish.
I finally cleaned these black spots (thousands) on the roof with clay bar. They were the result of artillery fungus. Very hard to remove. Actually it took five years of sun and weather to soften them.

When I drove on the I-20 at 70 mph, the 1.8 1ZZ-FE had to rev up to 4k rpm for every small hill. If I lower the speed to 60 mph, it took the engine much less effort. So I think it's common for the vibes.

I haven't been as active over the past few years but wanted to share this milestone :D Finally hit 300000km on the '06. It's not driven as much now a days (20k/yr) but it still runs great with no major issues. We have 2 cars and have talked about which one to replace next year -- the vibe or a 2010...

I think a mismatched color hood shows the poor condition of the car and a careless owner. A wrapped or dipped hood makes a rice car though the onwer may have no such intention. I recommend just sand down the hood and use spray cans to give it several layers of color matching base coat and clear coat.

In case someone changed the coolant , you can twist the radiator petcock and drain a little bit of the coolant to verify it. The original coolant should be toyota super long life. They are around 20-30 dollars at dealers. As caretaker has mentioned, other brand coolant with comparable contents costs...

There is a dash light brightness adjustment dail on your left hand side. Next to the hatch glass release button. If someone accidentally change it to all off, the dash light turns completely off when the auto headlight turns on.

Did four cycles of draining the coolant and filling with distilled water in the last couple of days. Replaced the water pump, put on a new serpentine belt, and refilled the Toyota antifreeze concentration. Smooth and quiet now.
