Since you had a mechanic inspect it I'd assume he is positive there is no internal engine issue (should not be with those k's on it). Only throwing a suggestion here because our previous 2.4L G6 did a similar thing where it sounded like a bearing at idle or bad counterbalancer knocking, kind of harm...

I would say only when its pretty cold and has been sitting for awhile where there is no lubrication left up there. 2011 Centreforce catalogue only has them to 2008, but they may have it now - give them a call or send an email. Not easy but a clutch can be easily be grenaded in under 10K... I'm assuming the question is being asked because the dealer has had a look at it already and are shaking their heads?

Lifted the hood this morning to top up the windshield washer fluid and had the wife crank over the engine (-10). Definitely heard the same sound for a second as shown in the video. Immediately gone once oil pressure shot up there, to me it sounds like the camshafts interacting with the valve springs...

Well, I'm kind of hoping for more then a dusting which has been all thats fell pretty much the last two winters in the Toronto area. Have had these new snow tires that I would like to try ! For sure, airbag deployment usually means write off. Insurance won't take the liability on replacement and all the bags in these cars are probably in the 10K replacement range... so - its heading for the salvage yard for sure.

Thanks man, but I guess what you're saying is that neither the scan tool has the option or there is some kind of hack (like pressing the lock button 6 times as mentioned before) which would accomplish this. Dealer (Toyota) told me that the 1.8's have smaller calipers then the 2.4L model so you can use a 15 fittment there, they probably have a multi fit rim at this point out there... but try and source a Corolla Rim anyway. The whole rack needs replacement ? Wow, I can see the stabilizer links lossening up and causing a front end rattle, but the rack mounts should not be doing that. If the dealer recommends it be replaced I can't see GM saying different... Let us know how you make out. Good luck.

I dunno about a softer feel, had mine in tonight at the 20K mark cause I had a free oil change coming, they did the pedal thing and now it feels much more compliant actually. Previously the drive by wire feel was a little finicky from idle to get going, almost like a lag issue with the softer pedal....

Had a bazooka tube installed recently at Future Shop - within the rear hatch of our 2009, does not interfere with the flip up grocery area at all and sounds awesome with the OEM system. Plus - it comes out in seconds (strapped down, one plug) if we need to load up the rear with heavy duty stuff etc....

Sooo, this will essentially activate the door locks when you turn the ignnition ON, then unlock them when you turn the key back OFF? Ours (5 spd trans) does nothing right now, would like them to lock in that manner, but I couldn't find anything related to that in our 09 owners manual...
