My radio knob broke for the second time. I plan to remove it in pieces without taking apart the dash. Hopefully I can preserve the knob enough to match it up with one from radio shack or somehwere that will fit right on without taking the car apart.

My radio knob just broke...for the second time. This time Im not under warranty for a free fix. It looks like its not too easy to beef up the stock knob with epoxy without filing down the radio also. rear brakes worn out at 80k? hmm. i just checked mine at 40k and they are probably no more than 25% worn. depends on whether you drive city or highway mostly.

Mine are 4.5 years old and still work pretty good. Toyota dealer says they are nothing special just have a plastic shroud over a plain old wiper. Id still like to replace them with the same if possible. Anyone got a part number or supplier for OEM vibe wiper blades? 09+ model

I think this 09 automatic 1.8L vibe has the U341E transmission. Does it take the WS or T-IV trans fluid? I think the dipstick says WS but the owners manual says T-IV. How many qts for a drain/fill?

I'm pretty sure its toyota pink coolant, which only comes 50/50 premixed at the dealership for $25 a bottle. Looks pretty easy to change if you stick with the same kind and don't have to flush it. Probably doesnt need it but once every 5 years.

The dealership that I took it to charged the government, I mean GM, something like $83 for the "free" oil change and tire rotation. I had to sign to show that it had been done. Any dealership that wont service it even if you didnt buy it there is stupid.

I thought about cutting a mouse pad to size and attaching to the vibe arm rest. You could use a black one or something cooler like a Dale Jr mouse pad They really screwed that up by putting hard plastic. Even a rubbery coating would have been fine.

I usually take off slower in my vibe than my other cars, but thats because I want it to last forever. Im not concerned about durability, but im just taking it easy. I got 34 mpg last fill up with about 50 miles in town and 140 highway!

Motorcraft makes good 5W20 synthetic blend. I havent had to change my own oil yet but I think I will use that. Ive used the 5w30 in my tundra. Its generally cheap too, about $2.50 a quart.

I didnt buy a vibe because it was a pontiac or a GM. I bought it because its a toyota and I could use my GM card rebate on it. the best of both worlds.Im not worried about resale because Id sell my chevy's and drive my vibe into the ground.

on my 09 I got the trailer hitch bike rack and can open my hatch fully (with my particular rack). Its a little tougher with the bikes mounted to open it, but not impossible. Just have to shimmy the hatch past the handlebars. not sure if it works on an 03-08 model though.

The dealer is going to do the first oil change soon. Im at about 1100 miles. After that, I think I will do a short oil change (~2000 mi) on some Proline dino 5w20 that I got for cheap at pep boys. Then Ill probably do motorcraft or synthetic 5w20 and change it every 6 mos or 6k for MC or 10k for syn.

i got a couple filters at the toyota dealer yesterday. today I went to pepboys to get a filter wrench. they had 68 mm but not 64 or 65. dang. I did get 5 quarts of proline oil and a filter (for different car) for $10. Actually I got 40 quarts of oil and 8 filters. 5w20 was included in the sale too.

who is doing the math for mpg and who is using the trip computer? Those trip computers are bung. My friend says he gets 27 in town and 33 hwy and I look at his trip comp and the average is 26mpg, which really means its about 23-24. I was LUCKY to get 30 mpg one time in my 3.1L 2002 malibu. Best ever...

I got 31.7 mpg in my 1.8L vibe. At the end of the trip I have 976 miles. its not even broken in yet. and I wasnt driving very slow. Id love to see a 2.4L vibe do that, or a RAV, or an xB.
