I actually think ours is a little on the light side but then all the controls on the Vibe seem to be that way from the brake, accel, steering effort and shifter. Maybe you do have a problem if the effort is excessive.

Try a simple fix first. Was the PCV valve ever changed? A stuck PCV valve will lead to oil consumption. I had this on my old Escort GT. I would go through more than a litre of oil every 5000 kms. Changed the PCV valve and it didn't use a drop after that.

There is no reason to use homemade ramps, they make low-profile ramps. I have a set of the Rhino Ramps that work for the Vibe with no issue. Hell, I figured if it could get the mustang up without scraping then the Vibe shouldn't be an issue.

We lost two in my area. Essex Pontiac Buick where we bought our Vibe closed it's doors in January. The list shows the other one, Jerome Taylor (same owner as Essex) but it actually closed a month or two ago, before the GM list came out.

I use Castrol GTX 5W20. You shouldn't have a problem with any quality motor oil as long as it meets the requirements. As for the filter, the only place I have found them are at Toyota or GM dealers and the Toyota dealer price around here is a little better so that is where I've been getting them.

I sometimes here a light click sound when shifting in the lower gears, with the window open and the radio off. Other than that the clutch is smooth and quiet. I don't think it is an issue. The rest of the car is so quiet that the little sounds stand out that much more.

There are plenty of them around here in southern ontario. On any given day I'll see anywhere from a couple to nearly a dozen. This area has a lot of auto industry workers so we have a higher precentage of domestic cars and trucks on the road than most areas I would imagine.
