Re: what oil brand/weight is everyone using? (2002sportside)

So you already are aware Pontiac dealers are more warranty picky, why give them a chance to deny warranty by using an oil NOT on their approved list? BTW I'm not bashing the Motorcraft oil, I use in in my Honda Pilot. But I advise doing whatever is necessary to protect the warranty...Its your car ho...

Yeah Toyota builds the engine but GM is providing the warranty, which BTW is longer than the one Toyota gives their buyers.Food for thought.....hmmmm

Well you can buy the GM filter, in my area it is almost twice what Toyota charges for the EXACT SAME filter In fact when I bought one from the GM dealer it IS a Toyota filter in a GM box.

Check the flimsy exhaust system insulation/heat shield under the car...my son's 09 was buzzing and the insulation/heat shield was tweaked, it bends right back by hand.

Maybe the sensors will fix it...Keep us posted as I'm very curious about it. I hate ethanol/gas and have managed to find a few stations around Columbia that don't have it and I make a point of buying gas there in cans for my non-auto equipment, ie boat motor, lawn mower, atv, motorcycle etc. Ethanol...

I'm curious how you know for sure your fuel in NC has no ethanol? I just researched it and NC does NOT require stations to label that they have ethanol. SC does. An article I read claims 50% of NC stations now have ethanol in their gas. In any case it is a very strange situation you are having, the ...

This pic is why I don't trust anyone to change oil on my cars. This is my company car at Jiffy Lube. Notice how the guy laid the internal side of the oil cap in the dirt and junk on the hood latch/front support. Of course he puts it back on without wiping it off. The air filter shouldn't be laid cle...

If you plug the Toyota part number for the filter into Fram's site it comes up with PH4967. Not to start a debate but many engine enthusiasts also consider the Fram to be one of the poorest made filters out there

Just a tip- next time put in the fuel system cleaner a tank of fuel or so before you change the oil Many times some of the cleaner or crud it removed ends up in the oil, which isn't such a great thing. Count me in on the early oil change on a new vehicle. Just dropped the oil and filter at about 700 miles on my son's 09 2.4L...very close inspection revealed some very fine metallic "dust" in the oil. I've noticed some of that on EVERY vehicle I've ever had, boat motor, car, truck, motorcy...
