thanks for the info. I took the panel off tonight and there was this metal things towards the top of the door that had 4 loose screws so I think that's what was rattling. By the way, when putting the door back on should I have put the 2 bottom snaps on first and then work my way up?
I have searched but could not find instructions on how to remove the front pasenger side door panel. Does anybody know how to remove it or have a link to a previous thread? I've got a rattle driving me nuts and I have to find out what it is and put and end to it!! I have a 2003 with the power packag...
I experienced my first white knuckler coming home this weekend from the Mountains on I-70 heading back to Denver. If anybody has driven on I-70 heading East into the Eisenhower Tunnel they'll know what I'm talking about. Traffic was backed up about 3 miles and it was a dead crawl into the tunnel. Th...
Thanks for the info. I don't plan on pulling things apart, just thought I would look underneath and see if anything was obvious. If I bring it to the dealer they won't be able to recreate the sound and I'll probably have to bring it back 3 or 4 times which I don't have time for. The passenger door r...
I have a miserable rattle in my steering column that I can't get too. How hard is it to remove the steering column? This car is starting to drive me nuts with the numerous rattles inside the car.
Approaching 32K and have not yet been to the dealer. I am planning on having them do an oil change and lube before it hits 36k just in case they happen to find something and can still fix it under warranty.
Good Restaurants in the French Quarter: ACME Oyster House, Andrew Yaegers, Cafe Maspero. You may want to venture Uptown also if you want to hang out at some colleg bars. Take the trolley down St Charles avenue and hit Fat Harry's at the corner of St Charles and Napoleon. On this corner there is also ...
Just got back from a marathon trip to New Orleans in the Vibe. It was 1400 miles from here in Colorado and I averaged around 33MPG doing anywhere from 65-80MPH. The passengers included the wife and two dogs along with our luggage on the way down but added a gas powered pressure washer on the way bac...
I thought it was just me. I have nvere been shocked this bad before in any car. Sometimes it's so hard that I let out a bunch of expletives. If I remember, Itry and touch something else before touching the door.
Does this mean that I can actually call my dealer and he will have to replace my cladding or does there have to be something wrong with it? What's the TSB #?
yup. I have x-country skis and those work also. You can even put the poles on top. Pretty much anything that is flat or has a small diameter can fit up there. Go to Yakima.com and they will fit the rack for you.
I've got the Yakima ski rack that mounts on the roof and holds six skis or 4 snowboards. The rack will set you back about $100. That's what I paid about 5 years ago.
What a timely question. I live in CO and just got back from Breckenridge where I spent the Thanksgiving holiday. When I went up there last Wednesday night I encountered blizzard conditions with a snow packed road going over Hoosier Pass. I have a front wheel drive, 5 speed with all season tires and ...
yeah. I got two new front tires 2 weeks ago. Cooper Lifeliners Touring SLE. So far the traction is much better than the Conti's on snow and rain. I plan on doing a lot of driving in the mountains this winter and I feel confident with these all season tires. They have a 70k mile warranty and cost abo...
18,600 miles. I bought it Dec 02, 2002. A few little rattles and some paint chips. I bought some touch up paint and have been religiously filling the chips in. At this rate my paint job will be one big touch up job.
I think the other factor is that Labor Day is around the corner. Lots of people will be driving. The price her in the Denver area is about $1.63. I haven't seen $1.25 in 3 or 4 years.
I can lay my mountain bike flat in the back with the seats down. I just take off the front tire and haul it back there quite often. When I have more bikes to carry I use a hitch rack that carries 4 bikes. The hitch cost $99 and the rack was about $150-$175. Great set up. I hauled 3 bikes to Moab for...
We took a trip from Colorado to Upper Michigan and to relieve the boredom I suggested we try and find every color Vibe. She wasn't terribly interested but I managed to come across every color except Envy and the new Orange color. I was having rotten luck until I got to Michigan where there seemed to...
My dome light for the front seats and I can't figure out how to get the lens off to replace the bulb. I took out the single screw that holds the sunroof controls and dome light but it didn't want to come loose. Any ideas before I cause any damage. It should be an easy process.
I did a 1500 mile round trip this weekend and averaged about 31 MPG. I noticed that when I used 10% Ethanol in South Dakota my mileage suffered. I used the AC about half the time and it seemed to have a negligible effect on the MPG. I did have a tense 20 minutes when I miscalculated the next town an...
thanks for the info. I solved my problem a couple of weeks ago concerning my Class I hitch. These particular hitches have a welded notch inside the receiver that prevents Class II accessories from fitting into it. I had my mechanic friend use this air hammer thing to remove the notch so now my bike ...
or do I need to learn how to drive? The other day I was backing up a steep driveway that required some negotiating around trees and loose gravel and by the time I was done I thought my clutch was on fire because of the smell. I have noticed the same smell twice since then so I am a little concerned....
quote:keep us updated.Have a fun ride!If I ever figure out how to post pictures I'll put some up of the Vibe loaded down with bikes and gear with some slickrock in the background.
Last night we went to Home Depot and picked up a bunch of moulding for our home renovation. The longest piece we had was 155 inches which actually fit quite well in the car. I folded the front seat flat and had the moulding pressed against the passenger floor board with about 3-4 feet hanging out of...
I'd have them do a better job with the interior. I like the styling but after 6K miles the interior squeaks and rattles are driving me NUTS!! I am more than happy with everything else.
PETA has already issued a statement. Go to this link on The Smoking Gunhttp://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/dolphiniraq1.htmlI wish PETA members would have volunteered to be human shields in Baghdad.
It appears that most of the people that are bashing consumer reports don't have any idea how the ratings are attained. The annual car issue gets its ratings from about 500,000 responses they get from their members (magazine subscribers) so it is not based on the preferences of some conspiracy group ...
Not many here in No. Colorado. I have only seen one other Vibe. I think it was a Shadow. Don't know why they aren't selling here. I think the Vibe I bought was on the lot for over 6 months. It had over 300 miles on it when I bought it.
I'd love to put up some pics but I don't know how. My wife has an awesome digital camera so I could put some up. (is there a link that will give me instructions on how to do this?)I have to clarify the 5 minute install. I DID NOT PUT ANY WIRING ON! I never plan on towing a trailer, the hitch will be...
What a great hitch. It took 5 minutes to install and the name of the manufacturer is accurate. The only part visible is the 1 1/4" square. I did a lot of looking and the best price was at JC Whitney: $89.99. My buddy bought one too so shipping was only $10 TOTAL.
I've had the rattles you've heard about. My Vibe has an early build date (01/02) so I assume they have worked these bugs out. I live in Colorado so I have dealt with steep hills and high altitude and the Vibe has done fine. I have a manual so it's pretty easy to down shift to 3 rd gear and get enoug...
I checked mine out and it had a 01/02 build date. I bought mine on 12/2/02 so that thing was sitting around for 11 months. That's got me a little worried. Does anybody know when they started rolling these things off the assembly line? I've had a few minor problems(had to get a new cd player, the ins...
Don't know about the factory racks but I have looked at the Yakima roof rack. It is about $120 for the Lowrider Towers, $52 for the cross bars and then about $80 for each bike tray. I skipped that route and ordered a hitch from Hidden Hitch and when I get that on I'll probably buy a hitch mounted bi...
probably in this order....1) Honda Element2) Rav43)Honda CRV4)Mazda P5If the Vibe didn't have the Toyota "guts" I probably wouldn't have considered the Vibe. I couldn't imagine spending my money on a car from a company that is responsible for the Sunbird and Grand Am. I still get bummed wh...
What a timely question. Just mailed in my $75 fine today to the state of Wyoming. I was on US HWY 287 and got clocked at 80MPH in 65MPH zone. Cop said about 3 words and handed me a ticket. He did ask me year the vehicle was. First ticket in 8 years.
Subaru Outback's are another story. There's more Outbacks around here than Accords. I guess I should be happy that I have such a unique vehicle.(maybe Yugo owners were saying the same thing 15 years ago)
I definitely figured it would cut down on gas mileage, which I can live with, but my main concern would be driving down the Interstate at 80 MPH with the bikes on top. With my old 4Runner I had problems maintaining 75 MPH with the bikes on top b/c of the drag and the puny 4 cylinder that was in it. ...
I'm debating whether to get a hitch mount bike rack or use my current Yakima attachments for a roof mounted system. I swore I would never use the roof system again because of decreased gas mileage, performance and getting blown all over the place. Has anybody put their bikes on the roof and if so ho...
