You can use a 5w-30 oil without any problems. But yes, the toyota engines call for a 0w-20 or a 5w-20 oil. What engine does your Vibe have? The 1,8 or the 2.4?

The stability and traction control re-engages when you reach a certain speed (I forgot the exact speed). It does get annoying when you just want the system to stay off. Sometimes going up steep hills in snow can be a pain because the traction control will turn back on by itself.

You will get a CEL if you put a catless header on your car. You'll end up getting the P0420 code (due to a lack of a pre-cat). There is a secondary o2 sensor located after the pre-cat that determines the pre-cat's efficiency levels by measuring the amount of unburnt fuel left in the exhaust stream.

I also overfilled my 2.4l by following the owners manual. Now I make sure I only fill up with 3.5 quarts and then adjust the level after a day or so. I think the vvt controllers hold a certain amount of oil in the car when it is not running and does not drain out completely when you drain the oil.

It's always a good idea to put a transmission cooler on when you are towing with a full load. Just make sure you use quality hoses and clamps. The best method to adding a transmission cooler is to use AN fittings with braided lines.Just place the cooler core somewhere there is plenty of airflow.
