Re: Just switched to Amsoil 5w30 on my 04 Vibe w 78,000 miles (vibolista)

^ to Vibo--- My last 2 trips were 34-36, I'd say I may get 1-2 more with the oil, but I've been running synthetic for most of the time I've had the car, so maybe It'd do that anyways---And to comment on the rest-- The filters I buy from Amsoil say they are good for 15,000 miles right on the filter b...

Re: (joatmon)

I bought tranny fluid and haven't changed it yet.. Its probably due in for it, I've checked it several times though and it seems to be very clean looking and always at the proper level, I'm guessing the previous owner had changed it out at one point.. Oops and I'm pretty sure I meant the valve cover...

Huh, very nice that you could find a "pure gas" area, so you going to continue buying fuel from that area then, if so let us know how it goes!!

Re: (dont13link)

Awesome thread, thanks for this one, I will be adding this to my list of things to do!!! I have around 170+ on mine right now, I think if your car runs pretty good, maybe up to 200k ? Hahah thats just me completely guessing, I will just be doing it at "preventative maintenance" and anythin...

Re: (savibe23)

Hmm that is some crazy low mileage, so you have the all wheel drive automatic ? Hmm, isn't the highway speed in texas like 90 mpg, or not where your driving? I'm pretty sure the best gas mileage I've seen was 36 and that was right after a oil change, and 100% nonstop highway driving at like 55-60 mp...

Re: (beemerphile1)

Huh why all BS? I'm pretty sure that is exactly what I do with my car.. Why would I want to change my oil every 3,000 if I can achieve changing it every 30,000??? Hell I don't even change my high revving motorcycles oil for around 7-10 thousand, granted its not on the track yet.. So why is this BS?

200k, time for maintenance overhaul!

So much as the title says I'm going to be approaching 200k soon, and there is some much neglected work I didn't do prior to this winter! I've set aside some money and am gearing up to keep my vibe running for quite some time hopefully! SO I'm hoping some of you other vibe owners with 250+ can chime ...

Re: (Cougar Vibe)

Well heres my 2c worth.. I think if you use the car regularly as a weekly driver and are filling it up occasionally there shouldn't be any problems.. However from what I've read a lot about is, when your car sits for a long time that ethanol breaks down, and also can attract a lot of water, and well...

Re: Just switched to Amsoil 5w30 on my 04 Vibe w 78,000 miles (rmlmt)

I've been running this oil for the last 60,000 miles (or two oil changes) I'm switching to their 0w-30 synthetic, my main thoughts are for the cold weather starts, and they also list that the change interval is even greater, 30k i believe?? I've ran my 5w-30 though for the 25k mile changes with no p...

I had this problem and basically just ignored it for a while, finally my starter went out one cold night at a friends.. I seem to have this problem as well, but its mostly just when its cold outside, in the summer it sounds pretty quite.. I'd the tensioner could be wheres its coming from, although I sometimes wonder if maybe my exhaust headers are lose or something? MIne sounds like a raspy exhaust rattle, once it wa...

Stick with the recommended weight, I'm switching to 0w-30 but I live in the cold weather!

Re: (Water boy)

I use 5w-30 Amsoil full synthetic, I'm switching to their 0w-30 full synthetic for better cold starting.. I have about 170k miles and started synthetic at 120, so it can be done, but I burn a bit with my 25k mile oil changes, so I have to add a quart maybe every 10k miles!! I enjoy not having to dra...

That car doesn't at all sound like its worth 6500! If your still considering it tell them you'll take it for 4500, that seems more like the right price if its in as bad of shape as you say it is! Good luck on the vibe shopping, I however wouldn't bother with it if it was in that bad of shape. Howeve...

Well hello and as my super long title says, I'm a new vibe owner, and although I've been lurking around here as my interest in the little hatchback has been provoked! I was in the market for a used car and since my dad goes to a couple vehicle auctions in the state, I decided that would be my first ...
