PO420 even AFTER an o2 sensor simulator. Why do you torment me?!

I have been struggling with the cursed PO420 code for well over a year now. Last time, I replaced the cat and it got better just long enough for me to get it inspected. Then it came back. I have tried everything, but finally decided to just get an o2 sensor simulator and be done with it.Or so I thou...

Mine did not come with centering rings, I went and bought them. You can get them from the same place I did via their online site: http://www.tires-n-parts.com. They're really nice people and they know their stuff. Mine run true and vibration free all the way up to 100 MPH (uhhh...on the track )

I did clean everything with acetone before I applied. If it starts to bubble, I'll go back and use a heat gun and roller to get it down really well.

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!!Tonight, finally I got around to doing a full drain and refill of gear oil in the transmission. So I took out the filler and unscrewed the drain plug, and about 12 ounces of THICK black oil drip out. Turns out I was driving around for three months on just 12 ounces of gear oil!...

Re: The sweet sound of silence (johnnyi)

Looking up some old posts here and found this one...John, the dynatmat install took me about two hours. I would suggest wearing leather gloves if you use the dynamat with the aluminum coating as it tends to make lots of little cuts on your fingertips. I didn't use a roller, I don't think that's nece...

They are indeed 16" wheels. I decided to keep the stock size because around here the roads are terrible. Fast fact: North Carolina more paved roads than any other state. Which translates into a DOT stretched way too thin and an incredible amount of potholes. In response to the waxing, the only t...

New Motegi MR7s ARE ON!!!

Very excited about the new Motegi wheels! The Vibe is much sportier looking and I can tell a difference in the ride. Anyone in the market for stock steelies or wheel covers? Pictures are in the garage: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=29619

Hub size?

I just got my new wheels in today (pictures to come) and I need to know how big the Vibe hub is so I can get the hub-centric rings. The wheels are Motegi so I know they come with a 73mm hub opening that has to be sized down to...?

I wonder if you can get your own fingerprinting kit somewhere and do it yourself, then bring the evidence to the police? I would also think there are detectives for hire that can do this kind of thing. Maybe Pinkerton?

The sweet sound of silence

I spent most of the day yesterday installing Dynamat Extreme door kits on both front doors (along with new Blaupunkt components). Man, what a difference!! There's much less road noise and all of my annoying door vibrations are gone. The install was easy, although I had to rip off some worthless foam...

Ok folks, well I went to the shop and they told me it was nothing major...just a noisy clutch release bearing. It's not worn out or broken, just noisy. They also found some plastic splash guards that were loose and the engine cover is missing two bolts; they think that might be part of the problem, ...

In fact, when the belt was off I took the car for a short drive and it still made all the same noises.I found the perfect way to describe the noise: At idle in neutral it sounds like a roller coaster as it's going u...

Well, I figured I wouldn't want to replace the scratched pieces with other pieces having a similarly poor paint job. I'd rather sand off all this crappy paint and put on something nice and more durable. And in the process, why not make it something sexy like a metallic black or pearl grey?

Painting the HVAC trim piece

I've noticed that no one (that I've seen) has painted the HVAC part of the trim. I'm guessing because it would cover up the control icons. Unfortunetly, that piece of trim is scratched to hell on my Vibe and I'd like to paint it.I think I have a few options:1) Using clear tape, tape over the parts I...

You know, that sounds like it would be it. How much should that part cost me? I see a "Belt Tensioner" made by Gates on RockAuto.com for $70. Is that the part? Also, I see that I can just buy the pully for $12...how do I know if I need a new pully or a whole new assembly?

I have a clacking sort of rattle during acceleration coming from what appears to be the front passenger side of the Vibe. Well, I signed the papers yesterday on a 2003 Vibe in the color of salsa. Aha, little did they know...So I walked away with the 2003 V...
