You can get a good jump in HP by doing a Flow Master Cat Back. I did one for right around $400. It will sound really good with that K&N SRI in it and won't sound like a fart can.

If you do decide to take it off use a heat gun, if you don't have one a blow dryer can be used in a pinch (takes a little longer is all). Heat the area evenly to loosen up the two sided tape.
