Reversing the gear should work OK since only half of this gear actually works. Seems like they don't care much about fluid levels in dealerships. I had to remove about 400cc of extra fluid from the transmission on my new 2007 Vibe! I couldn't believe my eyes, checked and rechecked several times and finally adjusted to the proper level. Just a shame...

Thank you all guys for your expertise and advices. I myself think that one should stick to the volume prescribed in the manual for the particular year, unless Toyota issued some TSB which is most likely not the case (nobody heard about it!).

The question was not related to the owner's manual or keeping level on the dipstick. The question was about the fact that Toyota since 2005 changed the dipstick and corrected the manual indicating that more oil is needed (4.4 vs 3.9 quarts before), but there was no explanation about older engines - ...

I also don't think this is abnormal for automatic, but expected better mpg. Maybe with more mileage (I have only about 5300 on the odometer so far) the mpg value will improve.

Congratulations, I believe it's a good deal. I bought my 2007 before Thanksgiving, 2006, happy with it, but cannot get better than 24-24.5 mpg. Most driving is in the city.

I believe I found the answer - it's VSC (vehicle stability control) warning buzzer! I have this system on my Vibe. So far I couldn't find the proper location of it, where it should be bolted under the dash (sooo inconvenient to work there!).

Maybe it's a buzzer, it has a hole on the side in the plastic case. Two wires connected to it, yellow and black.
