Pop the hood and pull the dipstick and check it yourself. If it is brown then yes it needs changed and should be every 30,000 miles. The filter is a screen type and does not need to be changed. I work at a tranny shop and see the confusion on this every day.

I saw a coldest of -12 one morning. My 03 on the Oe battery has so far started up every time but it is slow cranking at these temps. Right now it is 19 degrees here.

I thought I read some where that the 09 vibes have a different bolt pattern than the 03-08 vibes did. If thats the case then 5x100 is not right.

I will be part of the minority and amit I kind of like it. I am not wild on how the font end looks but it does seem that they lisened to the main complants and tried to do something. ExampleMp3 player hookup, optional roof racks, rubber rear floor, better stereo, 17" and 18" wheels etc.

I had the gremlin for about 5 years. When I got it, there was no motor or tranny and the interior was in bad shape.Yes that is Carollon park, they had a AMO amc nationals there last year.

Here is a picture of my single gauge pod, it is the universal one you buy at auto zone and I trimed and painted it to match and fit to the pillar. I still need to get the sandwich adapter to hook up the line for the gauge.

Sounds like you got a great deal, I bought my 03 vibe, with power windows, locks and keyless entry, 6 disk changer and the 5 speed for $13,000 at 46,000 miles last october. My 03 has been a very good car, you should be happy with it. Oh and Welcome to Genvibe!

I am one of the lucky ones that gets 30 to 31 mpg in town driving, with the air on and shifting above 3 on the tack. I have gotten a all time best of 36 and 30 is my low, normally without running the ac I get 32 in town. The last fill up was 304 miles for 9.45 gallons. This is in a 03 base 5 speed.

Just take a deep breath and step back and look at the situation, start looking for motor prices on the net and at salvage yards around you, you might just find a deal. Just be thankfull this happened now when you can ride the bike and not during the cold months.

From what I have read the 03's seem to be the only problem 5 speeds. My 03 makes the dreaded noise but at 54,000 I will drive it till it doesn't move!
