On the way home from work yesterday, my odometer turned this fun set of numbers…on the exit ramp off the freeway…where I had a red light. How cool is that?
A 80-year old friend has an 07 Vibe, & she recently called me, asking about an issue she was having with her Vibe locking/unlocking by itself. (I have an 04 Vibe, so I am, apparently, an expert.) The car was locking/unlocking intermittently, even though her key fob was in her hand, & she was...

Hi all. I have an 04 with about 110k miles. I recently had my first flat on this car & couldn’t get my never-before used lug wrench (the one that came with the vehicle) over 3 of the five lugs. A guy who came along & rescued me had to use two or three different sized sockets on his lug wre...

Brett played well for the Jets before he tore his biceps tendon. After that, not so much. I don’t begrudge him his right to earn a living, & I will, selfishly, enjoy watching him play again, but I can never, ever, root for the Vikings. Go Packers!
I had pretty much the same experience as Mrs. Vibolista RE noise issues in spite of religious rotating & balancing. I could live with that, but my main problem with these tires is slick roads. They’ll do okay in snow, but if the road is icy or slick in any way (which is how Metro Detroit roads...
I’m guessing no on that, DavidPIL. First, the Cruze is a second generation offshoot of the Suzuki Swift. Second, my understanding is the Cruze is supposed to replace the Cobalt, & GM is supposed to start Cruze production at the Lordstown plant (currently makes the Cobalt & Pontiac G4/G5). ...
Anyone else hate Versus? Versus claimed they were going to show the Wings-Ducks game 3 in the Detroit area, where I live. But, I get DirecTV, & they didn’t show the beginning of the game until after the Chicago game ended in OT. When I called DirecTV to complain, they were mystified. I am so v...
It’s pretty common for mortgage lenders to sell their mortgage contracts to other banks for cash – happens all the time. Consumers have no recourse when their mortgage is sold to another bank, unless the third-party buyer doesn’t abide by the original mortgage terms, or unless you want to refi...
I feel pretty much the same as everyone here. It’s a punch in the gut, & I can’t fathom purchasing another GM vehicle as long as I live (this, from a gal who has only ever bought GM vehicles). What’s saddest to me is GM does not appear to be changing for the better. A friend who works at t...
We talked before about hooking up at Sherwood Brewery in Shelby Twp (45689 Hayes Road, just North of M-59/Hall Rd) sometime. The consensus seemed to be Thursday evenings or weekends were the best time to meet. Is this still true? Anyone up for meeting this Saturday? Name the time & I’ll be the...
What’s good for folks, time & day-wise? I’m busy this week Thursday through next Monday. Also, I can’t up there until around 7 pm (I work in downtown Detroit), but I can catch the tail-end of things.
Anyone wanna meet at Sherwood Brewing Company in Shelby Twp on Hayes off Hall/M-59 sometime? Or perhaps Kuhnenn Bros. Brewery (the old Lutz Hardware) in Warren on Chicago off Mound? By the way, I’ve been looking around lately at passing Vibes & trying to make eye contact to wave. If you see a ...
I went twice & was most impressed by the hands-on nature of the Ford displays, even though I’m not a Ford gal. They mounted a Mustang on its side, so you can see the topside & most interestingly, the underside. [I apologize for the links to my Flickr – I don’t have the software here to...
ajflan, sorry to hear about your predicament. Hang in there, & file a claim for unemployment, anyway. There’s a complicated formula the State uses to determine whether you’re eligible, even if you didn’t work a full 40 hr week. It never hurts to try. And once you file with them, you can ac...
Fred was my favorite channel. I loved the history of true alternative music. I got to hear stuff the pop stations wouldn’t play back when I was growing up in the 80s. The new channel (1st Wave) seems to be mostly early 80’s stuff – way too much Duran Duran-type music I heard over & over ag...
One of the neatest discoveries for me was realizing the driver’s side sunshade extends/lengthens to cover a larger area. When I move it from by the windshield to the door window, it’ll extend another several inches toward the back seat area. Very cool!
I live in Lake Orion & work in Downtown Detroit. A guy parked his red Vibe behind my blue Vibe in the Costco parking lot a couple weeks ago. I smiled & said to him, “Nice car.†He didn’t appear to get the car connection, but smiled back & said hello, anyway.
I recently started hearing an intermittent "ticking" noise from the heating/cooling system when the fan is engaged -- the fan setting doesn't matter. Shortly after that, the air coming out of the vents & the defroster areas began making a "pulsing" sound, where it seems like ...
I contacted Jim Waldron Pontiac in Davison, Michigan (where I have most maintenance done) about the recall back when it first happened. Last week, they contacted me & said they spent some time trying to get official word from GM about the recall, but GM still won’t officially tell them anythin...
Hey farles, it is a small world, indeed! I’ll look for your Mystic Blue baby the next time I’m in the area (probably the weekend of May 24). I’ll be driving my blue ’04 base around the Canal (I’m a Boatnerd) & the Niagara Escarpment area (my newest obsession). Look for the Michigan pla...
I saw my first new Vibe at the Henry of Pelham Estate winery on the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario over the weekend. It was a white one parked next to my ’04 blue Vibe, & I didn’t see it until after I came out of the tasting cellar. The back end, especially, was sharp in the white with the dar...
Has anyone with a fogging problem had a heater core problem? (Forgive my ignorance, but does the Vibe have a heater core?)I recall from other car problems in other times, that windshield fogging may be caused by a leaking heater core. This is especially true if you're smelling coolant fluid. My mom'...
Stoutvibe, your video shows exactly what my Vibe does. Kunkstyle, I don’t plug my Vibe in overnight. It usually sits in a garage that’s semi-heated during the winter, but the Mustang is in there right now. Once the Mustang goes into storage, the Vibe goes in the garage, & the idle hunting/pu...
When it’s cold outside (40 degrees F & lower), my ’04 base (manual tranny) starts out revving high, like normal, around 2k RPMs. When it should start revving lower after warming, it has a disturbing tendency to rev higher. It’ll rev up to maybe 2.4k, then back down to 2k, then back up to 2...
I'm 38, but I just talked some friends into buying a Vibe & they're picking it up sometime in the next few days. The husband was 78 this summer, & the wife will be 78 this month.

I knew there was a reason I joined this forum. My People!angelic_demon, I know what you mean about feeling like cars have souls. My old 1995 Cavalier Z-24, Shirley-Flo, took me to over 301k miles. That car & I grew up together. When the end was finally near after 11 years, I just cried. “Fortu...
Little Blue, because she's, well, blue. I was going to name her Gus, but that just didn't seem to fit as well. Question is, if I get it repainted to a different color, will she be confused if I keep calling her Little Blue?
Put over 301,000 miles on my ’95 Cavalier Z-24 with Mobil-1. A friend used only Mobil-1 in her ’93 Cavalier. After the oil drained out of the engine almost completely, she drove it a few miles to the garage, refilled it with Mobil-1, got a new oil change shortly after that, & suffered no dis...
