Re: Gas mileage better with a fuller tank? (jake75)

One thought did occur to me on this topic. Most theories put forth so far are not Vibe-specific. So, if they are correct then this phenomenon should logically not be Vibe-specific either. I never noticed this same effect with my 2000 Oldsmobile Alero, but I was not monitoring the MPG as closely as i...

Re: Gas mileage better with a fuller tank? (engineertwin2)

Wow, I never figured I would get so much interest when I started this thread, but it appears I am not alone in my experience with differing mileages depending on amount of gas in the tank.I am probably a pretty good test case for now and the future, so I'll keep tracking. I drive pretty much only to...

Gas mileage better with a fuller tank?

I have been somewhat obsessive about tracking my gas mileage on fueleconomy.org and on my Garmin iQue 3600, and I have been noticing an interesting trend. When I refill my tank, the more fuel left in my tank, the better MPG I am getting. Refilling with a quarter of a tank of gas left tends to get me...

Re: (Nomad)

29.9 on the last tank. Down because horrible weather is making my "highway driving" more like "parking lot driving". Gotta gate I-84 during a rainstorm.

Re: (RexB)

30.9 on the latest tank.Does anyone else track their fuel efficiency at https://www.fueleconomy.gov? Seems like a good place to compare the "recommended MPG" against the "real MPG" of cars.

Re: (Nomad)

FYI, first tank was 29.34 MPG, second was 28.04, now as I near my first 1000 miles I got my third tank and reached 32.15 MPG! I like this trend!

Re: (Gandalf)

Gandalf,I wonder if there is something else wrong with the car. I drive more like 60% highway and 40% city and my first two weeks with the car were in driving rains that kept my speed down to stop-and-go most of the way to work. And I still got 29 MPG... and I am told after the first 2000 miles it g...

If anyone else cares about American-made, I found the article below helpful when car shopping. It is by the UAW and identifies both American-made and Canadian-made cars build by the UAW/CAW.http://www.uaw.org/uawmade/cartruck2006.cfm

Vibe Owners Vacationing/Living in Wildwood, NJ?

My brother and I are planning a trip down to Wildwood, NJ (probably the Florentine Motel in North Wildwood) in late July. Are there any Vibe owners down that way or also planning a trip down this summer?

Re: my install (electrolund)

I have a Vibe with a mirror that has built-in reading lights. Would installation be as simple as unplugging the existing leads for the reading lights and plugging those same leads into the new mirror? If so, this would be a the ideal first mod for those of us who are still learning.

Thanks again for the good advice folks. Some other "friends" online had tried to claim that the Neo iOn would work with "any car on the market". I find it amusing that today if you go to the MP3Yourcar.Com website and select a 2006 Pontiac Vibe, they actually suggest a set of por...

Re: (drunkenvibe)

If it were me, I'd say the lines of the Vibe go along with more of a science fiction theme. Star Wars, Star Trek, if you want pop culture. Some kind of night sky theme if you want to be a little more artistic. I think it would flow well with the shape and flow of the chassis. Then again, I don't real...

I have been an XM user, but am not using either right now. I found after a few months that I'd prefer to program it myself with my iPod and CDs.There is not a lot of difference between XM and Sirius in programming these days - other than the fact that one has the MLB and one has the NFL exclusive ri...

Re: (scherry2)

I wonder if the current high gas prices have something to do with it. The dealer near me had a ton of AWD Vibes in stock - and I considered one - but with gas over $3/gallon I decided that the 4 extra MPG would buy me a lot more than the AWD in terms of benefit over the next 10 years. If they could ...

Re: (GMJAP)

Thanks, GMJAP. It is not encouraging news, but better to know the patient is terminal and be able to prepare for it, than to stand around wondering if you should call the doctor for that nasty cough.OK, that is WAY overstating it. I still LOVE this car. And am REALLY enjoying the 6 CD changer.

Re: (MassiveOverkill)

My first tank came up as 29.34 MPG with about 20% city and 80% highway driving. Probably less than it could be because we're going thru some pretty nasty rainy weather here in the Northeast (I am in CT) and some of the highway driving wound up being 30 MPH in the driving rain.

Sorry, I got a bit lost by the cross-talk. Let me clarify my position.I have the 6-CD changer - NO XM - on the current model. The band button is marked "AM/FM". The CD button has both a CD and AUX section on it.So... Am I stuck without being able to install the Neo iOn? Or should I be okay?

Has anyone installed a Neo iOn into their 2006 Vibe?

I'm a very new 2006 Vibe owner (drove it off the lot on Monday, May 8) but a long-time iPod fanatic. The best option to get the audio through the 6 CD-player that came with my Vibe is via the Neo iOn advertised at http://ww.mp3yourcar.com.http://www.mp3yourcar.com/sear...=2005The page indicates that...

Re: (ColonelPanic)

The best deal out there for GPS in my ever-so-humble opinion is a refurbished Garmin iQue 3600. You can get it for about $250 on eBay and sometimes on deal site like Woot.com, and it comes with Maps for the whole USA. It comes with a cradle that sits on your dashboard (a bit tight on my 2006 Vibe, b...
