Re: Question about factory alarm/keyless

So this is interesting--I see another thread where they discussed the fact that 03 cars should not make a noise when locking/unlocking. Mine does and I bought it as a CPO in 2005. It has always given one honk for locking and two for unlocking (except occasionally I think I hit the right combo of but...

Woohoo! Tried eBay one more time and can now successfully lock and unlock the car. For any experiencing similar difficulty, it's interesting to note that the receiver is simply that--a dumb receiver. The key codes are stored elsewhere in the car's brain. It immediately recognized the signal from my ...

Re: Hello! New Here

It looks like the linked thread should have answered your question, but I'm surprised that so many GenVibers don't seem to be aware that the stock 6 disk changer is a single unit with the early vibes. I love the fact that it is in-dash. Too bad you didn't catch me a few months ago, I've had my stock...

Re: RCDLR (Remote Control Door Lock Receiver)

Welp, I tore the car apart again and checked the leads with my trusty multimeter and the car side voltages seem to be correct, so I went ahead and took another shot with an eBay retailer. This one had more specific pictures so I'm hopeful I get the right part this time. Fwiw, the Toyota part number,...

Awesome, thanks. That area seemed right, but the diagram was really poor; it could have easily been in the rear hatch from what I saw. Great to have confirmation before removing a bunch of trim panels.

RCDLR (Remote Control Door Lock Receiver)

Hey, y'all. The key key fobs on my 2003 GT M&T started working intermittently (and a little strangely--honking slightly but not unlocking), both at the same time, and now don't work at all despite the fact that the light flickers brightly when I hit each key. I tried the procedure for teaching t...

2zz ge Tensioner pulley bolt

So, uh, what the heck is that thing? I bought a new belt and a new pulley, the belt because it was due, the pulley because the squeak it was making sounded like a bearing going bad and my stethoscope suggested the noise might be coming from the tensioner. I replaced the belt, but when I tried to rep...

Honestly no, although I did check that it was greased. It wasn't slathered but it wasn't dry, and I haven't had any problems with the windows hanging or popping or even moving slowly. I'll see about popping the door open again and laying down a bit more grease.

Window replacement

Had one of the sashes snap off the driver's side window, so I got a window from a junkyard and just installed it, but on initial rollup, the window tilts forward and doesn't seal in the rear upper corner. Doing several short up and downs seems to seat it well, but as soon as I roll it down significa...

No, I didn't. Neither realred's document nor the Matrix manual I found elsewhere mentioned it, so I didn't even think about it. Binary is right about factory wings generally not serving any purpose. It depends on what the spoiler looks like. If the spoiler is a small lip, then it's theoretically possible that it's there to (get this) improve aerodynamic drag. A spoiler (note that this is different from a wing) will separate the airflow from the car from that point back (hence the name, as it &q...

You've gotten some sound advice here. I did it for a few years and it's fun but expensive (though much less so than real racing). The Vibe really isn't terribly well-suited to autocrossing. Unless the Vibe transmission is very different from most, the reason you have trouble shifting into first is that first gear is non-synchromesh.
