Re: (L5K)

At the discount autoparts places, the matrix filter is 18 bucks, while the Vibe's is 30 bucks, so I compared them side by side. Same material and type of filter, just enough difference in size so the matrix filter won't work in the vibe.I cleaned mine out a few times, and even glued it back together...

Re: Where did that bike go? (BlueCrush)

Of course not. It was near a church, so lightning would have struck! Also, flat tires, bent handlebars, and a rusted chain meant it was thrown out.

recirc vent noise

I think my recirc vent door has a problem. I hear a thumping sound from the right side of the dash when I turn the recirc off. When I go back to recirc, no sound. It seems like the vent door motor doesn't stop when the door is closed and goes past it's limit, every 2 seconds theres a thump. So I lea...

Where did that bike go?

I was waiting by the church for my wife to finish her meeting when I spotted a mountain bike thrown away by the dumpster out back. I fix up bikes for charity so I thought it might have some parts I could use. I drove over, folded the seats, and it fit right in, wheels and all. Flat tires and bent ha...

Manual window on and off track

My manual driver's window gets crooked as it gets rolled up. I push on it to set it right, then it rolls up right. Is there an easy fix? Does the door panel pop off?

My warranty runs out on my 04 this month. The only problem it has ever had was a blown tweeter.I'll get another Vibe when this one wears out.

Re: Homemade cold air intake? (kevera)

Anything that provides cold air is a CAI, I just used the stock airbox so it's not even noticable, unless you pull the battery to see the hose, or crawl under the car to see the hose underneath.NOT ghetto at all!

Re: Re: (ndzr)

Welcome aboard ndzr!I still drive my Vibe, since my daughter Jenn hasn't started driving yet.Mine is only 2wd, and I put on some new tires, BFGoodrich traction ta's that are excellent. I went with a little bigger, 60's instead of 55's, and I like the extra inch of height along with the great tractio...

Re: Homemade cold air intake? (djb383)

Same here, and the easiest mod I've ever done, mainly because the airbox opening is 2 1/2 inch as is the hole you feed the hose through. As for looking ghetto, it isn't even noticable. You would have to look hard to see it.See the forced induction threads.

Re: Ram Air/CAI (Sharpeye)

Well, I just returned from Florida (posted this in the other forum also) and got 34mpg at 70-75mph. That's 2mpg better than stock. Most of the time, I traveled at 80-85 and got 30mpg.I also am running new traction ta's, larger than stock, 60's instead of 55's.

Re: Updated pics of my Ram Air/CAI (djb383)

I did this mod over a year ago, and just put 5000 miles on my vibe going to Florida and back. The best mileage was 32mpg before, traveling 70-75mph. With the mod, I now get 34mpg at 70-75mph, and 30mpg at 80-85mph.The other benefit is my passing power increase, from 60mph I get a lot more pull when ...

Re: Question for Canadian Vibers: Oil pan heaters. (Cougar Vibe)

I'm an hour from Canada.I installed one of those last year before it got cold. Also added one to my Canyon. small 150w pads. They look just like those in your post.I plug in when the temp gets below 10f. I checked to see how much heat they provided, the dipstick oil felt warm when it was -15f outside...

Re: Ram Air/CAI (Sharpeye)

My mileage shows 29.7mph since doing the ramair mod. Prior to that, I was getting 28mph. These results are from the first tankful of gas, so it may not be exact.

I think I'll get a pvc elbow that looks better and post some pics of it. The tin one works, but looks cheap if you look closely.Does your scan guage show what speed gives us the best gas mileage?

Re: Ram Air/CAI (J-freakie)

I found an elbow with a 3 inch opening and mounted in the space next to the foglamp to get some more air. It worked, I have a little more power. Mostly above 35mph I can feel the extra. The intake sounds a little better too.Any recommendation on a good exhaust, without getting too noisy?

Re: Ram Air/CAI (Dezz1)

I just finished the mod. I found a shop vac hose for a dollar at a yard sale and it went right in. I zip tied it to the lower portion of the bumper in the opening next to the foglight. It's a foot above the pavement. Water will have to travel upwards through the hose about two feet through four feet...

Re: (tnpartsguy)

I bought the Vibe for the toyota reliability, as my teenager will be using it down the road. However, I bought my truck (GMC) because of the high tech I-5, heavy duty auto trans, and locking diff. If there was an American made sporty car like the Vibe with great gas mileage that was also as reliable...

BFG Traction T/A's 205/60/R16

Changed out the factory continentals with 15,000 miles on them. I thought they were poor tires, and was right. The new bfg's handle and ride much better than the stock tires. They also look better, even though I went with 60's instead of 55's, they make the car look much better also. More fun to dri...

Yep, still here. Can't take my vibe out in the snow with those factory tires. Tried to trade it for a new AWD Vibe. Couldn't afford it. So I drive my Canyon when the roads get bad. My daughter will take possession of the Vibe this spring when she gets her learner's permit.
