I wanted ABS and side airbags; as I recall, there was only one Vibe on the entire dealer lot (this is out of roughly 20 or so total) that had both, so the other options (AT, moon n' tune, alloys, abyss, etc.) were just taken because the safety features restricted my choice of Vibes to that particula...

I can verify at least the first part of your statement. My '05 with curtains and side airbags does not have them. With the information VivaVibe gave, what you said makes sense.

You could try gas shocks (if there are any that will fit the Vibe) for the ride. If you have the OEM 17'' wheels or any large (17'' or above) aftermarket wheels, those might be part of your problem as well. Switching to the 16''s would probably help smooth out the ride.

The last Consumer Reports I read had the Vibe and Matrix ranked differently as well. The only reason I could figure out, from reading the statistics and whatnot, was that they had tested the FWD Vibe and AWD Matrix, then let the different rankings of the FWD and AWD models stand for the two differen...

I believe Camrys of that vintage had four-bolt wheel patterns instead of the five-bolt pattern on the Vibe. So, I wouldn't think it would work.

Probably a Nissan Versa. It would have to be big enough for 2 or possibly 3 people (at points) and would still have to be roughly as fuel efficient as the Vibe. I would consider a Mazda5, but that's probably a little more than I need.

If you can find a later one with side airbags it should help to negate that problem. True, all small cars are less safe when hit from the side, but the Vibe rides high enough and has enough of a profile that the problem should be minimized when compared to, say, a Civic. Something like 90% of Vibes ...

I'll usually drive so it shifts around 2300, but occasionally I'll push it (accelerating in front of someone who's flying) to the 4000 RPM area.

That Fiat is the neatest vehicle I have seen in some time. But then, I like the Scion xB, so... But, I've seen: a Lamborghini Gallardo (LOUD), an M6 (this was a very good week for car spotting) and a couple new Rav4's. I saw a Mazda5 too, which looks a lot smaller than the pictures in person.

Congradulations on the new car! And welcome to the site. You've probably found this out already, but a 26'' mountain bike fits fine in the back of the Vibe with both front seats up (if you take the front tire off). Plus, the non-carpet interior works really well when things get muddy.

Those models are really well done . I build cars occasionally, but usually stick to my model railroad, which is quite enjoyable to mess around with and gives a LOT more leeway for mistakes than do cars.

Thanks again . Yes, I got a K&N filter. I really am not all that interested in whatever performance improvements it may make, I just wanted to have a lifetime filter so it would be one less thing to worry about (at least for a few thousand more miles).
