Re: How many miles on your Vibes?

My Envygreen 03 has tapped out at 322,000. It has been a great car, and taken my family and I, on adventures all over the US and Canada. 2nd transmission is now too noisy to trust, and with that many miles on the rest of the chassis, and a noticeable slow decline in power from the 1ZZ, I regretfully...

Re: Need someone from Chicago to check a Vibe with a 5/sped

Thanks for your input, Caretaker, I do appreciate it. My interest for this particular Vibe, stems from the fact that it is a 5spd, has all the options I currently have, and is fairly low mileage, at less than 88000 miles. The car is a one owner, and Carfax has 33 records showing regular maintenance ...

Need someone from Chicago to check a Vibe with a 5/sped

2003 Base, 5/speed - 279330 miles. Bought with 115,000 miles. Replaced the catalytic converter at ~ 180,000, center bearing failed in the trans at 249,000 (replaced with a 2007 5/speed with 46,000 on it.

The OCV filter is located in the #1 Cam Cap. You have to unbolt the cap, and filter is located in the bottom side of the cap. I went with the Beck/Arnley OEM kit from AutoZone. Time will tell with the quality of the kit. The pressure plate is different in it's design, as the "fingers" on it are much larger, and shaped like triangles, thus fewer of them than the Toyota unit it replaced.

Your Vibe has a PCV valve. The hose coming from the Head Cover to Air Filter Box is part of the PCV system. As your PCV opens, allowing intake vaccum to pull vapors from the crank case, fresh air is circulated back into the crank case through the HC. This basically allows the engine to purge the sma...

Pretty much a normal condition on the 1ZZ-FE. Solid lifter design, and as they get close to 100,000 miles, this is when the clearances seem to get a few microns larger at colder temps. Thermal expansion takes up that clearance, as the components warm. I have the same noise on 4 of the 5 Vibes in our...
