Re: Humming noise / possible wheel bearing going out? (sideshowalan)

Found out it was a seized right front brake caliper...unfortunately it ruined my pad and rotor but at least it didn't mess up my new tires and wasn't a wheel bearing....went ahead and replace the rotor/pad and both calipers....drives fine now although the brake pedal is a bit mushy...they flushed th...

Humming noise / possible wheel bearing going out?

Hey all....got a 2003 GT with a recent problem. Had four new tires/front brake pads/rotors installed and a four wheel alignment done about two months ago. About a week after getting the new tires on I noticed a slight shake in the steering wheel...nothing major but enough to make me notice. Over the...

Re: car dies when slowing (joatmon)

Hey joatmon....thx for the response....I have a K&N drop in air filter and just re-oiled it last month and it is fine. I drove home tonight about 40 miles and no issues other than those two times. I am due for an oil change so I'll get in to the dealership this week (one that I am good friends w...

car dies when slowing

I have an 03 GT with about 215k on it...bought it new with 10 miles on it and only issues so far have been timing chain and the clutch...replaced the spark plugs a couple of years ago with oem parts so they should be fine. Today when driving about 50 mph I slowed to turn onto a side road and as soon...

Re: 2003 Vibe GT Hard to start (star_deceiver)

Good advice! I tried listening for the fuel pump whirr but it's hard to hear by myself with that annoying chime every time the key is turned to on....I'll have to have someone turn the key to on while I press my ear against the back seat lol. I bought a couple bottles of the techron cleaner and will...

2003 Vibe GT Hard to start

I have an '03 GT with 196k miles (bought it new with 10 miles on it) and the only thing that's gone wrong so far is a power door lock switch, clutch and timing chain. Last weekend I went to start the car and it would not start at first. All the gauges lit up fine, radio came on, starter was cranking...

Re: (star_deceiver)

Sitting at around 193k right now....I hate to get rid of it since it's been so reliable....not even sure if they still offer a stick shift on the new ones....may still offer a five speed instead of the six speed I have now....stick is just more fun to drive. Not sure if they still have '10s or they ...

Re: (ou.grizzly)

nah, nothing else was replaced except for the timing chain and any related seals/parts/etc....I suppose I could have had them do it at the time but I'm gonna trade it in once I hit 200k for a 2010 Vibe so I'm sure it'll last.....most dependable car I've ever had!

Re: Timing chain replacement (star_deceiver)

Turns out the dealer was right, the timing chain just needed replaced. He said this was the first Vibe he saw that needed it replaced...total cost was just over $1300 which included the tow truck from myhouse to the dealership. Majority of the charge was labor but they did a great job. For those in ...

Timing chain replacement

I've got a 2003 GT with 184k miles on it (bought it new w/ 10 miles on it) and the only thing that has gone wrong on it the whole time was a driver side power door lock switch about two years ago, the clutch needed replaced last year...and now the timing chain. In the driveway the car just would not...

Re: motor mount vibration after clutch replacement? (davehatch)

Update: Took the car back to russ moore, they diagnosed it as a vacuum leak and supposedly fixed it. Drove it home and the vibration was still there...took it back a week later (hoping it would go away on it's own) and they again diagnosed a vacuum leak, and supposedly fixed it. Brought the car home...

motor mount vibration after clutch replacement?

Hey all,I have a 2003 GT with about 160k on it (mostly highway miles) and the clutch started slipping last week so I got some quotes and took it to russ moore for $675 installed.Got the car back and it was running extremely rough and was told it was due to the battery being disconnected and the ecu ...

OBDII P0128 thermostat question

My 2003 Vibe GT (90000mi) check engine light came on tonite....my OBDII scanner said "P0128" which is "coolant temp below thermostat regulating temp". The car drives fine, runs smooth, coolant/oil levels ok, air filter clean, etc. All other gauges on the dash read fine. Is this a...

Re: wheel well sprayed w/ oil & clutch pop noise (davehatch)

Good news! Dealer checked out the car and could not find any fluid leaks at all.....service manager said I must have driven through something....I dismissed this at first since there was no fluid on the tires but he said that the friction/heat of the tires on the road would dissipate any fluid on th...

wheel well sprayed w/ oil & clutch pop noise

I have an 03 GT w/ 62000 miles on it and two days ago as the car was parked on the driveway I noticed a small oil patch on the driveway that was caused by oil dripping from the front of the right side front wheel well....the entire right front wheel well was coated with oil but the tire tread was no...

GPS & Moonroof not available together?

I am considering ordering a Vibe GT and would like both the GPS radio and the moonroof, but according to the brochure the moonroof is not a single option but instead packaged in the "moon and tunes" package, which according to the brochure is not available with the GPS radio option. I real...
