I did pull the lid. Any chance the base is the same and only the lid changed?

Re: Scrapping Vibe what parts would you pull?

Surgery went great. Of course I have been watching ads to replace the vibe. I was released Saturday from the hospital. We looked at a 2004 vibe in the same town as the hospital, but it had issues. Motor had been swapped, dipstick handle was not where I am used to it being. It was one spot to the lef...

I have to go in for another surgery next week. Hopefully everything will be great after.

Thanks for your concern.

Re: Scrapping Vibe what parts would you pull?

Yes I am a Vibe guy through and through now. At one time we had five of them. We will still have two after scrapping this one. Unfortunately I just had back surgery. Literally four of our vehicles broke down while I was in the hospital. One of them being this vibe. I just didn't have it the ability ...

Re: Scrapping Vibe what parts would you pull?

What part of Ohio are you located in? I may be interested in a few items if you're close to me AND if it hasn't made it to the scrap yard yet. I have a tow dolly also if you need it moved from point A to point B I wish I had thought to post here sooner. As with some other groups/sites devoted to a ...

Re: Scrapping Vibe what parts would you pull?

Honestly, you could still sell to someone for $500 who wants to replace the tranny. I can't imagine someone paying $500 for a 2003 with 299,999+ miles, red doors on a maroon car, pretty badly cracked windshield, and bad transmission. The car quit a town away. I don't want to invest any money in a t...

Scrapping Vibe what parts would you pull?

We currently have three Pontiac vibes. All of them are 2003 and all are FWD. The Vibe we've had longest has over three hundred and twelve thousand miles on it. someone backed into me on the passenger side so it was totaled and we bought it back. The car is maroon and I could only find red doors. Kep...

Re: 2003 Auto Trans just quit while driving

Check the CV axles. They may have had some slop and a tight u turn might’ve popped the shaft out of the cup. That would be my only guess When car is running and in gear, there is no noise other than the normal engine sound. With minor gas applied the engine revs, but no other sound. If a CV joint w...

2003 Auto Trans just quit while driving

My wife was driving our 2003 Pontiac Vibe automatic. The car has about 312,000 miles on it. She realized she had passed where she needed to be, so she turned into a parking lot and was kind of turning a left-hand u-turn and when she went to come out of the turn she realized pushing on the gas didn't...

Re: AC recently quit.

I got the torx bolt out using a screwdriver to wedge between one of the triangle corners and stop the pulley from spinning while I removed the torx bolt with a ratchet. Then I got the first snap ring out. When it was time to get the second snap bring out that actually held the coil in, unfortunately...

Re: O2 sensors, what are good voltages for upstream and downstream?

You also do have upstream and downstream o2 sensors... That said, the upstream sensor is usually a "wave" on the graph and the downstream usually sits flat, until you step on the throttle, then it should similarly mirror the upstream. That is true from 2003-2005. 2006-2007 the upstream se...

O2 sensors, what are good voltages for upstream and downstream?

2007 Vibe base manual 5spd I was getting a catalytic converter below efficiency threshold code. I know this can be caused by bad O2 sensors. Unfortunately I was still under the impression cars had upstream O2 sensors. I trouble shot it as such. I have now learned about wideband AF sensors. My testin...

Re: AC recently quit.

I would say first get the hood open and visually verify whether the compressor clutch is engaging or not. If it is not engaging, unplug the wire from the compressor and verify whether you are getting 12 volts or not at the plug with AC on. I recently had to repair my air conditioning, I was getting ...

If you think that its just the coil, then there a listing on ebay for just the coil, https://www.ebay.com/itm/124279446943 that's a lot cheaper than the whole clutch kit.
thanks for the info, I ordered that coil and installed it yesterday. The AC works great now!

Which AC compressor clutch? '04 AWD

I have a 2004 all-wheel-drive vibe. I get 12 volts to the air conditioning compressor clutch when the switch is turned on. The clutch makes no effort to engage. I'm looking to order the clutch assembly. I searched and found a clutch assembly for around $130 on eBay. But when I put in the information...

Re: Abs bleed procedure?

The rear brakes were just adjusted. I bled the master cylinder and then the brakes again. No change.

I was told to pull the vacuum line from the booster and use a zip tie like a dipstick to make sure there isn't any brake fluid present. I will try that soon and report back.

I had tested the master cylinder by putting Teflon tape on two bolts and running them into the master cylinder ports. I could not budge the pedal at all once the ports were plugged. Doesn't this usually indicated good master cylinder?

Abs bleed procedure?

Hi, I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe with all-wheel drive and abs. I have been fighting the brakes since I bought the car. The top half of the brake pedal is soft. Basically you kind of feel the brakes engage but the pedal keeps going to halfway down and then you get full braking power the rest of the way...

I have a 2004 all wheel drive with abs. The rear brake lines go through this manifold. Just curious what it is and what function it serves?

Thanks!

Re: New HU install, lowest volume way too loud

Well I solved one problem and sadly kind of created another. I bought the scosche line converter and with it installed my lowest volume isn't too loud anymore, but even with it turned as little as it can cut back the volume, I've lost a whole bunch of top volume. so now it definitely isn't too loud ...

Re: Motor swap? - 04 awd motor into 07 fwd 5spd

Yes, the leak was definitely caused by corrosion. Car was in the Columbus Ohio area. I'm not sure why it corroded so badly, the lower cover was in place. This is our fourth Vibe and none of the other ones are corroded like this. I even paid attention to junkyard Vibes and those were much nicer as we...

Yes they stopped driving it immediately. And you hit the nail on the head. it was the transmission oil cooler pipes mounted just below the radiator. I went ahead and bought the car because we have a blue Vibe and could have used a lot of the parts. But once I saw it was just those tubes leaking I kn...

Re: Motor swap? - 04 awd motor into 07 fwd 5spd

Okay it seems things are going my way. I thought there was sludgy mud in the overflow on the 07 Vibe. Looks like the previous owner dumped stop leak straight into the overflow. I was afraid I had a bad head gasket , now I think I just have a coolant leak in the radiator so I will be replacing the ra...

Motor swap? - 04 awd motor into 07 fwd 5spd

Hi, I have a 2007 vibe with a 5 speed. I am buying a 2004 awd. The 07 has muddy coolant. Guessing exhaust into coolant, oil is fine. If I decide to do a motor swap will the 04 awd motor mount into the 07 and mesh with the 5 speed? I am guessing the flywheel would be different. I just don't know if t...

New HU install, lowest volume way too loud

I have a 2007 Pontiac Vibe and bought a touch screen head unit. I believe the car has Moon and tunes. I have a sunroof, tweeters by mirrors, and a subwoofer in the back. Unfortunately when I try to adjust the amplification lower in the head unit it has no effect. At the lowest volume setting the rad...
