Re: ‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

Yesterday I took the car a family members farm and we were only able to do the front struts. It was quite the fiasco, started with not being able to get the wheels off so he used a rubber mallet over and over until I said we need to get some penetrating grease and jack stands. Then we had to cut the...

Re: ‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

Check the strut mounts in the engine compartment, and make sure you didn't shear a bolt. Strut tower and the top of the mount looks almost new, hardly any dust on it, the bolts up top at least look good. Also I should mention that this car has been extremely lucky over its life and it has no rust a...

Re: Introducing the lemon vibe

I will say he’s a pretty obvious troll but he at least tells a good fake story with it  anyone that names a car sea-biscuit surely cannot be serious.
How cool it would be though if there really was a 770k mi vibe with a MR2 drivetrain swap roaming around somewhere.

Re: ‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

Something very odd happened today on my way home from work. When I got up to my cruising speed (73mph) the wheel wasn’t shaking at all (which it normally does) then about 10 mi down the road there’s a long, sweeping right turn, after the turn the shaking came right back. I’m a bit worried as I also ...

Re: ‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

Thanks, I bought Monroe quick struts all round and 2 acdelco advantage front stabilizer bar link kits, also a performance rear anti sway bar to improve the handing. I was shocked how much I had to pay for shipping (748$ total cost) and I now don’t have any money for brakes (which I need) and equipme...

Re: ‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

Both places were local shops that would hang customer parts and that’s what they told me it would be, with me paying for the parts. Firestone won’t put on my own parts, neither will my favorite dealer. I’m thinking buying a floor jack and stands plus all the stuff I need to do the work still won’t b...

Re: ‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

One shop wants $631 another wants $900 and the guy told me that 99% says I’d also need sway links along with the struts. I drove it today and it seemed ok although I can feel that there is a difference in the way the car lands off bumps at high speeds. I didn’t notice a new wheel shimmy I just notic...

Re: ‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

Thanks for the help guys,I’m thinking I’m going to try to see if some shop near me will install parts if I order them (I doubt these are an easy DIY install), I’m looking at doing moog or Monroe complete strut assembly all round. Both claim better performance than stock. Weirdly enough before my lit...

‘Slightly’ broken front suspension.

I was up north and I got stuck being on only dirt roads for about 10 mi in a national wildlife refuge, these roads had so many pot holes and dips to avoid and in some spots it was very sandy and loose. I knocked the right front in a deep pothole I didn't see in time going 25, I hit a lot of nasty bu...

Re: Vibe alternate history

I think the vibe would have been killed in 2013 along with the matrix. I am also curious about nummi, there’s very little info on the vibe production and nothing on the last vibe built! No photos or anything as far as I know.

Re: Received a Takata recall letter today.

I got the repair done friday after the parts finally arrived, luckily I dont have any new dash cracks although, I can tell that the new bag is larger as its making an indentation on the air bag cover. I was told I was one of the very last people to get it done

Re: Little Things

Thank you, I have gotten the middle dome light to work again! Just moving it back and forth a couple times worked. I think I should focus on maintenance because my parents have never had to do any work to the car other than when a tree fell on it at my camper in 2007, so it has the same shocks and p...

Re: New buy and plug pics

Nice car! That’s my favorite color for the older vibes.
I’ve never heard of this torque thingy, what is it used for, it sounds like a pretty good idea, I’d like to be able to get real numbers on oil temp, water temp, and AFR, I’d rather know temp was above 200 rather than ‘above normal’.

Little Things

These are a few little things that are varyingly annoying. Some are most likely hard to fix but also common problems. The shifter light (P R N D L) does not come on, it sporadically comes on sometimes either after driving for a while, or after restarting after recently driving around. The only light...

Re: Received a Takata recall letter today.

The dealer doesnt have parts, I know they will tear my dash up again. I'm hesitant to get it done but I do have passengers somewhat often, I should be able to disable it if I shouldn't have a passenger.

Received a Takata recall letter today.

I found a recall notice for my vibe today, it says that this car already had a recall repair and it needs another one, the first time caused a small crack on my gauge cluster by the trip reset button so I'm unsure about doing this again. This is apparently only for the passenger bag (afaik both were...

Re: Hello fellow vibe enthusiasts!

I was able to just stuff it back in on the drivers door, which I had to really force open from inside. I dont think I have a seal damaged, although I haven't gone highway speeds for quite a while to see if there is a problem. We got more ice coming this way so I might get to see how well the silicon...

Re: 2019 Corolla Hatchback Thoughts? Opinions?

I feel like this new design looks good and has the right intentions but, having rode in one these I can say that it wasn't very well executed, the front passenger seat was quite uncomfortable, it felt like i was sitting on a plastic chair with no cushion. The rear seat has just about no headroom, It...

Re: Hello fellow vibe enthusiasts!

Thanks for the replies, I live in Janesville, it’s 30 minutes down I-90 from Madison. It’s been getting buried in snow quite a bit lately although I can’t complain about being able to hit some handbrake turns and donuts. It had a very brutal cold start at -20 but it still started on the first try! T...

Hello fellow vibe enthusiasts!

Hello from Wisconsin, I have a 06 vibe that is currently at 150,000mi, it hit 150k yesterday. My mother bought it new back in the summer of 2006 and I inherited it as my first car. I plan on keeping it even after I buy a new car because I have so many memories growing up in this car. https://i.imgur...
