Re: Transmission drain and fill at high mileage

Maybe I am paranoid, but I like to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. I look at it as cheap insurance. Also change the coolant every 30k and the engine oil every 5k using semi-syntethic oil. My base 2010 with 2.4L engine has 184,245 miles on it. Purchased with 160k, replaced all the f...

Re: Are There TPMS Sensors in the Wheels?

Our 09s definitely had sensors in the wheels. They were part of the valve stem. I disabled the TPMS in 2013 and than last spring when we got new tires, I ditched the TPMS valve stems for plain old rubber ones. My TPMS light came on and I am wondering how did you disable TPMS on your 2009? I have a ...

Re: Should I risk changing Transmission Fluid OR seal its fate and leave it alone?

My vote is on changing the fluid. That was the 1st thing I did when bought the 2010 Vibe with 160k miles. Changed all the fluids, including transmission. After 1,000 miles, changed the transmission fluid again. Now the car has 170k miles and shifts like a dream.

Re: Passing emissions with check engine light on

Ordered the 4 OEM (Denso) injectors on eBay for $55 USD. Didn't seat them properly on first try (fuel dripping), but got them seated on 2nd try. Job took around 35 minutes each time plus the drive around to make sure it's correctly done.

The code I cleared with a Blue Driver code reader (Model LSB2).

Re: Passing emissions with check engine light on

Had the P0171 code on the 2002 Rav4 and did everything the internet suggested: looked for vacuum leaks using starter fluid, cleaned all 4 O2 sensors with a torch, cleaned then replaced the mass airflow sensor, cleaned the PCV valve. Code kept on coming back. Took it to the local shop and they diagno...

Re: Another Vibe lost

Great choice on the Subaru. Volkswagens have poor quality and reliability history after the initial wow factor wears off. Yes, the Boxer engine is somewhat of a challenge to work on (spark plug replacement, etc.), but all in all, Subaru is a quality car.

Congrats and post a few pics.

Re: 2009 vibe vs 03-08 vibes

The 2010 Vibe base model I purchased has the 2.4L Toyota engine and the 5 speed automatic Toyota transmission. The window in the hatch does not open separately. Other than that, not much difference.

Re: 2010 Vibe Base, 2.4L MPG question

So yes, you are correct. The last 3 entries are Hwy miles, cruising at 75-80, with AC off. The rpm at 80 is 2,600 and with the Camry it was 3,000. Luckily, so far the engine is not burning any oil. The Camry did, but only after 250,000 miles. Not a big deal, just trying to understand why the marked ...

2010 Vibe Base, 2.4L MPG question

Drove the 2010 base, 2.4L Vibe for over 2,000 miles since purchasing it and MPG seems to be different than my 2003 Camry with the same engine. The Camry had a 4 speed automatic, the Vibe is 5 speed automatic. The Vibe is a smaller car, although curb weight is close on both vehicles. With the Camry, ...

Re: 2009 Vibe Steering Rattle

Purchased a 2010 base Vibe with 160k and it has the rattle issue. Replaced the intermediate shaft with a new GM shaft, based on the part numbers listed in this forum {thanks guys} and the rattle is the same. The mechanic still thinks it is the intermediate shaft. Based on the above, not sure if repl...

Well, he suggested to change the intermediate shaft before I told him I already have. He says he feels the rattle in that area. I was thinking that maybe the GM part I purchased is not the updated part and am considering replacing with a Toyota shaft. Reading comments on this forum it is not clear i...

2010 Base, 2.4L steering wheel clunking

Hi all - based on the treads I was reading on the clunking of the steering wheel both when going slow over bumps and when wiggling it, I replaced the intermediate shaft. The clunking didn't stop; however, two other things happened: the steering wheel is now crooked and the VSC is permanently on. Hav...

Toyota family. Had a 2003 Corolla S, two 2003 Camrys (son still drives one of them) and the better half drives a 2002 Rav4. I drive a 2010 Vibe base, only because it has Toyota engine and transmission. Not going back to domestic vehicles any time soon, even though they are getting better. Spent 10 y...

Re: 2010 Vibe Base ATF drain and fill at 37,700 miles side by side Fluid comparison Pic

Totally agree. Hard to fathom that there is anything 'lifetime' when it comes to fluids, which do break down. I typically change the ATF every 30,000 miles, along with the coolant. Engine oil every 5,000 miles, using semi-synthetic. With these schedules, I just sold my 2003 Camry with 300,000 miles ...

Hi all - just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi, as I recently purchased a 2010 Vibe base model with 160,000 miles, 2.4L engine and a few mods that were already installed (rear spoiler, Kenwood radio, runners, tinted windows, custom wheels). Planning to drive it until - hopefully - 300,000 miles...

Interior fuse box cover/cubby door - 2010 Vibe

Hello all - recently purchased a 2010 Vibe base model with 2.4L engine, 160,000 miles in Fort Worth, TX and I am in the process of bringing it up to standard. Noticed that the internal fuse box/cubby door to the left and below the steering wheel, is missing. Two questions: would anyone (a) know the ...
