Re: check engine light

Hey Frosty, Someone at the dealer already called the Vibe a Lemon. That makes me think they don't want your business. Also, the dealer will charge you 50% more than anywhere else. Try to write down everything that is wrong with the car. Then take that list to a local mechanic. Have them inspect you...

Re: A/C Issue and Noise

does the 2 pops happen when starting only if the climate controls would run the AC, or all the time? The AC will run when either the AC button is pushed or if the airflow is set to full or half defrost. When the AC engages, the magnetic AC compressor clutch can make a loud clack sound, usually one ...

Re: check engine light

a check engine light could be caused by something as trivial as a loose gas cap or as serious as imminent engine death. I don't know of a specific condition that would cause your symptoms, but as andrewclaus said, get the specific error code read and let us know what it is. Please let us know what ...

Re: A/C Issue and Noise

Re: Introducing the lemon vibe

Thanks for the link to the pictures. The plastic intake manifold, and plastic engine cover are correct for the Base Vibe. Your description of the engine revving/speed sound like the normal 4-speed auto, but someone with an automatic would have to chime in for sure. also the wiring under the steerin...

A/C Issue and Noise

Hi, I have a 2004 Pontiac vibe base with about 770000 miles on it , yes it has that many the odometer has reset twice now. i was wondering if it ws normal to hear two pops when the car is started and the ac engages. shortly after there will be a horrible grinding noise that will last until you turn ...

Re: Introducing the lemon vibe

Yeah, but he just claimed the engine and trans are original? So..? In my quick searching (using Wikipedia as my source) I also don't see a 5 speed automatic offered on the MR2? What year? Also, the only 1.8L engine I see listed is the 1ZZ-FE. For the record, a 1ZZ powered Vibe will also hit the rev...

Re: Introducing the lemon vibe

i have a theory that the engine has been rebuilt by my uncle. my aunt said he had wrecked it before and had also made modifications to the car also. it bangs the rev meter at 7300ish i also say the transmission is a 5 speed because on the highway the engine will cruise at 3000 at 80 and if u wanna g...

Re: Introducing the lemon vibe

Frosty sent me a PM, and mentioned that the engine also revs to 7000. This lines up with my theory that the engine/transmission are from an MR2, which redlines at 7000. Is the intake manifold plastic or aluminum? It is plastic but you can clearly see that it does not match or fit correctly. i cant ...

Re: Introducing the lemon vibe

It was originally owned by my aunt who drove who lives in the middle of nowhere so she put a lot of miles on it. It has the original engine. in 2011 the car was struck by lightning on the roof and fried all the electronics so all the computers were replaced ( it was expensive) but the odometer says ...

Introducing the lemon vibe

Hi, I'm Olyver... yes with a Y . I have a white 2004 Pontiac Vibe Base?. sadly it is considered the worst lemon gm made according to dealer ship. Its a GT 1.8L VVTL-I with a 5 speed automatic. no I'm not a liar. I easily reach speeds of 120 and maxed out at 137 due to gearing. the automatic part of ...
