Re: My garage burned, taking my Vibe and Toyota Celica

What a horrible and devastating experience. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your cars, garage, and your historical stuff. I used to work for a printer in Alexandria, VA back in the '90's. We printed for GEICO. We printed ALOT for GEICO. Everyone who worked there pretty much said the same thi...

Re: "transmission bearing"? - 6speed '03 GT making noises

The 03 5 speeds seem prone to bearing issues, but the 6 speeds have been really solid. I can't say for sure that no one here has ever had a 6 speed bearing fail, but if they did, I don't remember it. Given the high cost of the one shop's proposed fix, I'd recommend getting a second opinion. The one...

Most of the cars I have had in my life are used, so I take what was being sold. I haven't had a stick in years and it isn't a deal breaker for me at 56.

Sticks are being phased out by manufacturers so enjoy them while you can. Paddle shifters are going to be the norm soon so it seams.

Obviously making a copy of a worn key will provide the same result. Like has been said earlier, check for leaks in the system. The system not running for years can make the seals dry out and leak when no oil is being run through the system. Also, if there is an opening in the AC system, there could be moisture inside of it potentially making components rust. I had t...

As mentioned, I'd think about age as much as mileage. Some older stuff fails due to age, not wear, like plastics and rubber. My '98 Subaru is starting to get to that point. So head gasket replacement isn't an option? It must have been a pretty hard failure. If it didn't overheat or seize up, I'd do...
