Re: Corolla stereo for '09 base?

Thanks! Glad I didn't make what would have proven to be a foolish impulse purchase.

Corolla stereo for '09 base?

Does anyone have experience dropping an OEM Corolla touch screen stereo (see attached) into a '09 or '10 base? This strikes me as a good deal, though I wonder if my money might be better spent elsewhere.

Now with TRD lowering springs and fog lights! (Stalk and relay so the fog lights actually work still to come.)

Re: K&N SRI (#69-8757TTK) for 2009-2010 1.8L

I pressed 'go' before reading your post. The 21-202DK is smaller than the K&N in flange length (by 13mm) and height (by 7mm), and larger in top outside diameter (by 3mm). Flange inside diameter is the same. I'll wait 'til I see it and do a visual comparison before making a final call but I'm lea...

Re: K&N SRI (#69-8757TTK) for 2009-2010 1.8L

I say go for it! It looks like it's in really good shape... FWIW, I prefer AEM's Brute Force Dryflow filter because it does not require oil which can mess with the MAF sensor. Got it! I sanded and repainted a few rust spots on the exterior of the heat shield but it was otherwise in great shape. The...

The latest - a new-to-me K&N cold air intake! Bought it for $190 CAD / $150 USD. Planning on swapping in an AEM filter before long. Pretty happy with the responsiveness and bit of extra HP at higher RPMs.

Re: MountainVibe - 2009 Vibe 1.8 L base 5M

I don't know the specs but here's a side by side shot of the old and new. "Significantly bigger" is unfortunately as specific as I can be. I added the strut tower brace at essentially the same time, and the combined effect, at least when cornering, is that it feels like a different car. Ge...

Re: K&N SRI (#69-8757TTK) for 2009-2010 1.8L

Aside from what it may mean for having to clean and re-oil the filter, is there any good reason to not buy one of these CAIs used? Someone's asking $250 CAD (~$205 USD) for a gently used one they took off their Corolla to sell; figure it may be worth it for closer to $150 CAD (~$125 USD). Can't be t...

Re: MountainVibe - 2009 Vibe 1.8 L base 5M

Thanks, KingKrab65! I've finally assembled all the pieces for the fog light install--lights, bezels, relay and stalk. Waiting for the body shop that has agreed to install them at no charge to call when when the part from an unrelated repair comes in (which reminds me that call is long overdue...). K...

Phone mount for 09 manual

Does anyone have experience using this ProClip mount with a phone holder in their 09/10 manual? I'm curious to know if it's easy for the driver to see the device, if the mount location causes any interference, e.g. with shifting, and how passengers feel about audio and power cables dangling on their...

Re: MacGyver's - 2009 Vibe Base

Waaaay back in this thread you mentioned getting OEM stalks for fog lights and variable intermittent wipers. I ordered what I thought was only the turn signal/light stalk for the fogs but also got the intermittent wiper stalk. Do you know if installing the stalk alone will bring variable intermitten...

MountainVibe - 2009 Vibe 1.8 L base 5M

Hello, fellow Pontyota drivers! My exceptionally uncreative name for the car is NUMMI. Bought my Vibe in April 2016 with about 77,000 km on it. Smelled like something had died in the HVAC system, but the odour thankfully went away. Not too much to report at this time, except to say that I LOVE it, w...
