Wow that sounds like a fun excuse for a road trip, but it's also way too close to another event I already have planned to attend. Maybe next year! Y'all have fun.
Kind of late here .... but WELCOME to GenVibe ;) A woman who's not afraid to get dirty and mess with mechanical things .... Nice !!! Post pics of your ride when you find some free time and update your profile .... We'd be curious of your whereabouts :? Thanks! :D To be honest, I don't think a fear ...
Let me know if cleaning the throttle helps with the vibration. Mine is subtle, yet still annoying. I've been the only owner with mine as you know, and I've noticed some differences over the years with the way acceleration and response times handle as well when kicking her in (don't do that much now...
I haven't had this issue myself, but mine has been used pretty gently. I work from home and drive maybe once or twice a week with the occasional long journey once or twice a year. The previous owner drove it about 3 blocks a day and an occasional grocery run or two-hour trip to see her mother. :P No...
Welcome to the forum! :D I'm pretty new here myself... Isn't it a great place? I also have a 2009, but it's not AWD. Mine is at around 101k, and I've also noticed a bit of a vibration like what you're describing. I replaced the belt, and I've been gradually going through the various maintenance thin...
Thanks for the input. :) I changed the belt today, and it went a lot smoother than expected. I think this job appears more scary than it actually is (*knock on wood*). When I first took the belt off, I wasn't sure it was going to make a big difference, because it didn't seem visibly worn. Boy did it...
Well, the belt squeal goes away on its own after a couple of seconds. It only happens at start-up for a couple of seconds. Guess I could spray it and then start up and see if it goes away? But if I'm understanding how the water thing works, I think that might not work?
So, my '09 Pontiac Vibe is at about 101k, and I've been on a mission to do all the maintenance I need to do before I take a big trip in January. (Along with some neglected things the previous owner failed to do...) I've noticed that there seems to be a belt squeal when I start up the car, and when t...
I did a spot of Googlefu and it looks like the ABS was optional in the first generation. It seems like they became standard with the second generation (but my sources are iffy so I could be wrong about that!)
Today I flushed the coolant. I was a little nervous to do this myself, but I found a lot of great information here and on YouTube. The internet is such a wonderful resource. :) It all went off without a hitch! I think it very well might have been the original coolant, so it was probably at least two...
i figured it was a bad connection, just dont know how to go about taking it apart to find out - as ive never done that before. I had so many electrical problems in my old Astro van. Electrical issues are the woooooorst. I think if it were mine, I'd probably be asking myself how badly I really need ...
Heck a mattress go buy a Pontiac Aztek they had a Tent Kit that actually stuck out the back of it lol. Google the tent attachment for the Pontiac Aztek
lol, that's hilarious. XD Kind of defeats the purpose of sneaky free camping, though. lol
I had a Toyota Corrola in college that had this exact symptom (refusing to start after multiple tries and then starting after waiting awhile) and it turned out to be a bad O2 sensor that had messed up something in the system. But I think I had a check engine light for a long time that I ignored (bec...
I've never really understood the mentality of people who replace their cars when they're still running fine. I guess if you're trading it in, the math works out? But it's such a hassle to buy a new car, why would you want to do it more often than you have to? XD But everyone in my family drives the ...
Mine's a 1.8. :> I'd actually say that if you can do an oil change, you can definitely do the transmission fluid change as well, unless you want to flush it (in which case you need the special machine the mechanics have). After researching and thinking about it, I decided the flush wasn't really nec...
PS: Actually, I've noticed another thing... It seems to me that there aren't a lot of videos showing what various problems look or sound like (maybe I'm searching for the wrong things, but I haven't found them). So as different things come up, it would be really useful if you put up videos showing t...
I'm new here, but I'd like to chime in saying that I was cool with the video. :P I mean, I don't really care about the cheap tires since it's not exactly a scenario I can replicate (congrats, though!) but I'd love to see more videos posted about Vibes. Here's my perspective on the video thing... I'd...
@Caretaker: That is great! I'm sure there will be things that are beyond my capacity, so I'll check it out. :D @korax234: That is the best thing I've heard all day. I lol'ed for real! XD I'm at least not /that/ clueless (plus, I tend to over-research, because I'm just like that...) :) I at least kno...
I just stumbled onto this forum while looking for more information about my Vibe, and I'm really enjoying looking around. I'll probably mostly lurk, but I thought I'd introduce myself, as long as I'm here. I have a 2009 Vibe that I have owned for about a year and a half now. The previous owner was a...
