Re: What did you do to your Vibe today?

Changed oil. Took all tires off, inspected all brakes, hoses, suspension, steering components. Took brake pads off calipers and rotors, cleaned it all up, and lubricated where needed (caliper slide pins, etc.) Found a "wounded" passenger rear brake hose (not leaking *yet*). Replaced the br...

Re: tips for replacing brake hose?

Did the job this evening. It was very smooth and quick - much easier than I anticipated. Bleeding the brakes was also much easier than I thought - it helps that my son was working the brake pedal, while I worked the bleeder valve. Thanks for the tip!

tips for replacing brake hose?

Hi everyone, I took the tires off our 2009 Vibe GT to inspect the brake pads, hoses, lube things, etc., and noticed the passenger side rear brake hose has a "gouge" out of it. It literally looks like someone just scooped a chunk out of it about 1 inch long, and about 1/3 of the way deep in...

Re: New 2009 GT owner

Our used Vibe was missing the cup holder dividers also. I found some at a local salvage yard. I scavenged them off a wrecked 2009 base Vibe - they let me have them for FREE! They were not advertised as having any in stock, but they just said to look around the salvage yard at the Vibes, and anything...

Re: Latest Recall - March 2017

Hmmmm...we haven't received a recall notice yet for our 2009 Vibe - maybe it's still on it's way. But, our mail service is horrible. :x We regularly have our mail delivered to wrong houses, and we receive other people's mail also. Is there a way I can check if our vehicle is involved in the recall (...

Re: 2009 GT vs. Base tail lights

Ahhhhh, all better now. The damage was finally repaired a couple weeks ago. The person that hit our Vibe paid the auto body shop in cash, since they have insurance problems (too many accidents), and didn't want to involve their insurance company.

Re: Considering a 2nd Gen Vibe

2009 vibe GT owner here also. Ours just turned 107,000 miles. We bought it with 90,000 miles. If I remember correctly, ours has a build date of Aug. 2008. Ours does burn some oil - about 1 qt. every 3,000 miles. While not ideal, that amount does not bother me. I don't mind putting a $4.00 quart of o...

Re: 2009 GT vs. Base tail lights

Well, the guilty party involved in the hit and run incident came forward early this morning. We'll be getting their insurance information, and hopefully this will all be fixed (not on our dime - whew!) Hopefully it all works out OK.

Re: Plastic Panel Clips

I have used zip ties also for many of the vacant holes, and they work well. But, there are a few holes that I can't get the zip ties to work - where it looks like the plastic clips are actually needed. So, I'm also looking for some inexpensive clips.

Re: 2009 GT vs. Base tail lights

The hole in the tail light plastic is larger now (since this picture was taken), and there are more cracks throughout. I'm guessing the very cold weather made it crack and break more after the "incident". Is there a way to get the white paint off the bumper without repainting/replacing it?...

Re: 2009 GT vs. Base tail lights

I'll try to get a picture up when I can (the whole resizing thing).
The back right bumper area is dented in a bit also :( . This is very upsetting, especially without the extra $ sitting around to fix it (lots of unexpected medical bills recently). Oh well...This too shall pass.

2009 GT vs. Base tail lights

Hello Genvibers, We had a hit-and-run incident last night with our 2009 GT :x . Of course, there was no information left from the person who hit our Vibe. There is white paint smeared along the back right corner of the car (which doesn't look very good on a red GT), and the back right (passenger sid...

Re: CEL, VSC lights on with four code faults

Thanks for the info.
My code reader is probably about 5-6 years old.
If my code reader can't figure out the codes, then it sounds like I should get them read at an auto parts store, and go from there.

CEL, VSC lights on with four code faults

Hi everyone, 2009 vibe GT just recently has check engine light on, along with VSC light on the dash. My little OBDII code reader gives four faults: N/A 01/01 N/A 01/02 N/A 01/03 N/A 01/04 The car runs and sounds fine. Any clue what these codes mean? Is this likely something a mechanic needs to deal ...

The Vibe will not start at all now. My wife used it to run errands during the day (it ran fine), and parked in the driveway. Tonight, when I turn the key...nothing, absolutely nothing happens. No click, no lights come on, it's like it's completely dead. I tried jumping it, and even after several min...

I think I figured it out. Thanks for the replies and explanation where they should go. I was initially trying to make them lay down flat (horizontally) somewhere, but that did not work. I didn't think of them going upright (vertically) along the sides of the engine compartment. I lined up the holes ...

I really appreciate everyone's replies. It does sound suspicious of what you are describing as being the problem. Re: Let's play...Name that Part!

I will look closer when I have a chance, but I didn't notice that the windshield or radiator appeared to have been replaced. Maybe they really are spare parts left behind from a different vehicle? Let's play...Name that Part!

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but here goes. When we bought our 2009 Vibe GT a couple weeks ago, there were two plastic parts (looks like some type of trim pieces?) that were sitting on the sides of the engine compartment. They were not attached to anything. There were just...

Re: 2009 Vibe GT starting issues

It does not do it all of the time. It's intermittent, but seems to be gradually more frequent than it was a few days ago. It is most common after the car sits for a while, but can vary. I would say that the problem is worse the longer the car sits. If the car is shut off, and then re-started again, ...

Hi everyone, A couple weeks ago we purchased a red 2009 Vibe GT with 93,000 miles - we love it! It was missing a few parts (jack and handles, cup holders, etc.).
