Figured I would just do an update on how my Vibe is coming along. Soon I will be painting the body plastic and polishing up the headlights. SO stay tuned for those videos. All in all my Vibe looks a lot better than it did a year ago. Also check out the powerstop brake videos I did. Yes I know this i...
What's the Vibe's tow rating? A lot less than a Miata. But I would seriously consider getting like a Chevy Colorado or something to tow with. I also towed about 1600lbs and it could do it just fine but an emergency stop would have been BAD. The difference is the trailer I was towing weighed about 1...
This seems interesting I to wonder what the differences are. Maybe it's like the TRD Special package that I think was only available in Canada also.... The Toyota Matrix TRD Special Edition adds many performance, comfort and styling features to the “B” option package contents of the Matrix Base FWD,...
Well I finally got around to putting new brake pads and rotors on.... Video of 60 to 0 tests compared to stock... https://youtu.be/0g_GNjT2TcI Unboxing them video... https://youtu.be/BNmdW4RdLZc I should have got the powder coated calipers but I didn't. I did the bedding procedure per Powerstop and ...
I bought some Power Stop Z23 - Crossdrilled and slotted rotors and Z23 Pads all the way around.
I will be posting a video this weekend when I put them on.
Going to try and do a 60 - 0 test with stock warped brakes and then with the Power Stops....see how much better they are.
Doesn't it look normal height, now? From crossover to wagon/hatchback, depending on your definition. ;) Have you done your rear anti sway bar, yet? Yes it looks a lot better now. More like a GT should have been from the factory. Its lower but I can still drive over speedbumps without worries. And m...
I finally got some time to make a video after I lowered my Vibe. https://youtu.be/rtvyKn3vOzE And now the car shifts a lot better since I lowered it. You will have to watch till the end of the video to see why it shifts better from lowering my car. Also I found a spot to have a little fun it. Let me...
Yo guys what up. I currently have a beast of a vibe. 2009 vibe and let me tell ya what, its the greatest thing I'ver ever driven and I used to own a vette. I took it to IFO this weekend in topeka and that drift course wasn't ready for it, I tore them bimmers up. Really glad to find some fellow vibe...
Finally got around to lowering my Vibe. The stabilizer end links were a PITA. The lock nuts and rust made them really difficult to remove. And the rear struts were a pain because you have to remove the inside rear plastic to get to the bolts. All they had to do is make an access cover bigger just to...
I was trying to do a slalom test with the Vibe GT before I installed the lowering springs. And then do it again after to see how much better it handled. Well turns out I need more room for the test. Check out the video. https://youtu.be/ls62xMD0N-8 Thanks and Please subscribe to my YouTube Channel. ...
Get a cheap multimeter from Harbor Freight check the voltage at your battery. If it is under 12 volts your battery is weak. Than start the car and check the voltage again at the battery if it goes over 14 volts then your alternator is working and charging the battery. If it isn't the alternator is b...
I have a few new video's up. Since their not of the Vibe I will post them in this section. Enjoy and please subscribe. I've never really understood the mentality of people who replace their cars when they're still running fine. I guess if you're trading it in, the math works out? But it's such a hassle to buy a new car, why would you want to do it more often than you have to? XD But everyone in my family drives the...
If they estimate $3100 in repairs....it will be hard to tell the insurance company your car is worth 6k or more. I bought my 03 GT with 73k miles on it back in April or May for $4200.00 So I think no matter what it will be totaled once it goes past like 70% the value of the car it's totaled. I would...
Just did a short video on my first mod reveal....if you don't want to watch it's lowering springs that I got off another Gen Vibe member. And I also did a shout out to the gen vibe forum in the vid. Anyways here is the link. https://youtu.be/je849ehI0qI Please Subscribe if you can. Thank You and hav...
PS: Actually, I've noticed another thing... It seems to me that there aren't a lot of videos showing what various problems look or sound like (maybe I'm searching for the wrong things, but I haven't found them). So as different things come up, it would be really useful if you put up videos showing ...
That doesn't look like $3100 in repairs? new hatch and interior pieces.
Need to see what the inside looks like it might have bent both rears inside.
I would just keep the car with salvage title fix it and save up for another car.
It probably broke because these fuel doors seem to get stuck if the hinge isn't lubricated every once and awhile. When I got mine it was hard as heck to open. I put some WD-40 on it moved it back and forth a few times and it opens real easy now. The fuel door is bent from the previous owner, that's ...
Just please make sure you are draining and feeling the transmission fluid not the engine oil. I heard on one of those radio shows were they have a mechanic on and people call in to ask for advise. This one person called in and said her and her BF wanted to change their own engine oil and they draine...
Here's what I think. Don't waste my time on a forum with a link to your info. If you want to tell us about your tires, post the info. Don't go to a forum to promote your video channel. I am promoting my channel I guess but I am also trying to get some excitement in the Vibe Community. Since the car...
Speaking from experience.. You can tow a lot more than the rating. When I moved to Colorado it pulled around 3000lbs in an enclosed trailer 1100 miles for 16 hours. And since then it's pulled closer to 4000lbs of concrete and wood around town. Obviously I wouldn't recommend this. But I also towed a...
When the engine is cold it needs more fuel, that's why it's adding 20% more when it's cold and at 2000rpms. That sounds a little high to me. but the -5% means it has to much fuel and it's taking some out. But -5% isn't even that bad....... Typically the code P0171 is set when either short term fuel ...
Glad you hit the 299,999 mark without any issues! Even better, no issues in the snow and cold of a snowbelt state. :) Hard to believe you still have the original suspension. With the extra heavy trucks on Michigan (up to 11 axles!), seems the roads are always full of potholes and bumps. Could also ...
That's Awesome. It's hard for me to even keep a car that long. Let alone hit 300k miles. I did buy a 2003 VW Passat 5-speed Wagon with 249k on it and drove it 10k miles in 6 month until the 1,8t got the oil sludge problem and it lost oil pressure. I was hoping it hit 300k in that car and still never...
I would look into Scion TC forums to see the reliability of that drivetrain since it was the same engine and trans. Their is a lot more
TC's out their then Vibe's.
https://youtu.be/Cin6QXKX8ZM Would like some criticism on my review video. Any suggestions would help because I would like to do more videos like this. Next one will be my 2011 VW Golf TDi 6 speed manual. So if you could watch and give some tips I would appreciate it. And this was all filmed with a...
I recorded some exhaust clips yesterday and man it sounds really bad on how it recorded it. Not sure if it was the mic or it just sounds really high pitched lol. I will post video this weekend.
The pumps life was probably shortened do to the fact the previous owner drove it 4k miles in like 3 years so the gas was always bad in the tank. It ran crappy on the test drive. Bought the car drove 2 miles to the gas station filled it up and it ran a million times better. So maybe the bad gas gumm...
Nice !! I see you like to hit LIFT a lot 8-) I will have some better LIFT video's soon. It actually snowed that night after making the video. And I only had a short time to film. My wife had to leave at 9am so I filmed from 6:15am until about 8am most of it was standing around watching the sunrise....
I'm kind of a new member made a few how-to videos. Well I made a short film because I got a new camera I wanted to try out. Hopefully it will make you guys love your Vibe's even more. More video's and how-to's to follow. Got a list of mods I want to do to the car and film the progress. https://youtu...
That seems a bit unusual for the FP to go out under 100k miles. I take it you got no warning signs like stumbling or poor acceleration in the days before it died? Enjoyed your FP video - thanks for the link. I was surprised to see a bunch of screws that hold the pump assembly in place. Nope no sign...
FUEL PUMP (a) Inspect fuel pump resistance. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance: 0.2 – 3.0 Ω at 20C (68F) (b) Inspect fuel pump operation Apply battery voltage to both terminals. Check that the pump operates. NOTICE: These tests must be done quickly (within 1...
My new fuel pump is coming in today. So after work I will get it installed. I checked for power at the pump and I am getting 12 volts to it. But it doesn't even attempt to come on. And the engine is spinning fast enough because if you crank and crank it starts for 1/2 second and shuts off. I will po...
Ok so I picked up a starter then took my son trick or treating. Then started to mess with the car....well It turns out my fuel pump isn't coming on. So when I get time tomorrow I will see if I am getting any power back their. This sucks oh well.
Your throttle cable could be getting stuck, if the wire is frayed it could be sticking, or the plate in the throttle body is getting stuck.
My bet is the throttle cable is messed up.
