Re: Peak Asian Coolant

I was at Meijer tonight picking up some oil and noticed a coolant I had not seen there before... Two varieties of Peak - one red for Toyotas, one blue for Hondas. The red flavor is for use in applications that take either red or pink. It was $16 and some change for a gallon of 50/50 pre-diluted. Th...

Re: 2010 Vibe Base ATF drain and fill at 37,700 miles side by side Fluid comparison Pic

I thought our Vibes required ATF change evry 60K per the manual ? As far as the 2010 model It's only recommended to be changed every 60k if you drive your car under mostly under one or more of these severe conditions; − In heavy city traffic where the outside temperature regularly reaches 90°F (32°...

Re: 2010 Vibe Base ATF drain and fill at 37,700 miles side by side Fluid comparison Pic

Totally agree. Hard to fathom that there is anything 'lifetime' when it comes to fluids, which do break down. I typically change the ATF every 30,000 miles, along with the coolant. Engine oil every 5,000 miles, using semi-synthetic. With these schedules, I just sold my 2003 Camry with 300,000 miles...

Re: 2010 Vibe Base ATF drain and fill at 37,700 miles side by side Fluid comparison Pic

I would suggest that you change the filter on your next drain. With the pan dropped, you can clean the bottom of the pan and the pan magnets. When you see the ultra fine particles in the bottom of the pan, you will know way the filter should be changed. Would you change your motor oil without chang...

2010 Vibe Base ATF drain and fill at 37,700 miles side by side Fluid comparison Pic

I thought I'd do a drain and fill of the tranny fluid. More so because the fluid is almost ten years old despite of the low mileage. I was able to get out 3.17 quarts of fluid and it looked clean and red when it was draining. I thought i was wasting my time but after looking at it next to some new T...

Re: Installed Vinyl Sun Visor Strip 2010 Vibe

Looks good ;) On the topic of windshield replacements .... my son's 2009 Vibe GT needed a new windshield a couple years ago and we had Safelite locally do it for us. Since then he noticed the windshield wipers, especially drivers side, do not work as well. Meaning that they do not constantly swipe ...

Installed Vinyl Sun Visor Strip 2010 Vibe

I had to have my cracked windshield replaced so I decided to put on a new sun strip to help block some of the Florida Sun. Pretty easy install. I went with a matte black finish and only went an inch below the AS1 line so I hopefully don't draw any attention to myself and get a ticket. Only $13.00 on...

Re: Just upgraded to a 2010 Vibe base

That is one clean Vibe. I've always liked those rims. Had no idea about the wheel adapters. Where did you purchase them from? Can you tell me what part # and make they are? I purchased them off Ebay. $100 for a set of 4 with free shipping. below is a link if your interested. https://www.ebay.com/it...

Re: Just upgraded to a 2010 Vibe base

Very sharp. That pin stripe detail really looks nice on your car. I'd enjoy learning more about all the differences you are noting between this car and your Gen1. I like the pin strips too. I'm assuming it was done at the original dealership and not by the owner by the way it was perfectly applied ...

Re: Just upgraded to a 2010 Vibe base

Yep, to confirm what you've learned: All 09-10 2.4L Vibes are 5x114.3 All 03-10 1.8L Vibes are 5x100 Also, nice looking 10 Base. How thick are the wheel spacers? Do the wheels stick out from the fender at all? They look pretty flush. I agree with tpollauf... needs the factory fog lights. 1 inch spa...

Re: Just upgraded to a 2010 Vibe base

Florida car ??? Now it needs the factory fog lights! Looks very clean. Why the extremely low mileage, if legitimate? Private seller or dealer? Yep, Florida. I got it from someone on Craigslist so I was able to save some money on dealers fees. She was an older lady and only drove it to her school an...

Just upgraded to a 2010 Vibe base

I loved my 2004 Vibe so much I decided to upgrade to a 2010 Vibe with only 31,000 miles. After I got it, I wanted to swap the stock wheels and hubcaps with the AWD 17" aluminum wheels. I experienced a little speed bump while trying to swap them out. I didn't know they were different wheel bolt ...

2004 Vibe Base P0442 EVAP LEAK...FIXED

My 2004 1.8 Vibe base with 160,000 miles check engine light came on. It showed a PO442 Small Evap Leak code. I started with all the cheap fixes first like re-tightening the gas cap, then replacing the gas cap which didn't work to clear the codes. Then I heard the 2004 corolla/Matrix had a service bu...

Re: Power steering return hose leak Fix

Good info! Thanks orlando. You're Welcome. With the car being 12 + years old, I'm sure I'll be dealing with more leaks and the need to replace more rubber hoses since they tend to harden and crack with age along with exterior plastic trim parts from UV exposure. So far I've been lucky, aside from t...

Power steering return hose leak Fix

I have an 04 Vibe with 130,000 miles. The other day I discovered a leak coming from the Power steering Fluid Reservoir where the return hose connects to it. I was worried it might be coming from the reservoir itself, but it turns out it was just a bad section of the curved rubber hose that connects ...
