Re: Some questions on suspension

My tires are a whole different mixed bag. I had another thread about that in the appropriate subforum. I suspect I have at least 1 bad tire, but due to mitigating circumstances and then the whole coronavirus situation unfolding, I never had the time to go back and insist they swap my tires out as de...

Some questions on suspension

I've got ~260K miles on my Vibe now. I bought it at 167 (or 176 idk) and at least one of the front struts had been replaced by the dealership.. I don't have the paperwork handy at the moment.. but we'll assume they did both sides. I have no idea if the rears have ever been done. The only work done t...

Constant rain, not so much. I mean certainly I've driven the car around in the rain for many hours though. Gone through car washes, etc. I don't think I've ever drowned it tho. I might look into what you mention and try some generic weather stripping. Although if anyone could find / give me a good p...

Re: Some electrical system annoyances (Headlamps, Blower, etc)

Any updates? Is it okay already? I'm a very bad procrastinator unfortunately. Doubly so when I think it will take a lot of money to fix something (either in labor or parts or both). Being not so mechanically-inclined I have plans to have my mechanic swap back my factory alternator hopefully within ...

Note: this is not about the rear seal for the windshield. This is for the front of the car. A few years ago after I had to take salvage on my car following a deer collision, one thing that always peeved me off was when the body guy I went to did the hood replacement, he did not salvage the rubber s...

Been a while since I posted, so thought I would update. I had my alignment done which went fine, and then I had my wheel bearing replaced recently. I don't have a TON of complaints currently, although sometimes it still feels a little "off". In general I've had the car up to around 85mph o...

Some interesting info for me to consider, thanks. I'll have my mechanic do the wheel bearing for sure, that's not something I'm prepared to do. I did have him replace the tie rod on wednesday however. I actually noticed what appeared to be a significant improvement in the vibration problem, which is...

Stopped in at the tire shop and talked with them for a bit, regarding my plans and such. They said no problem come back any time if the problem is still there and they'll swap the tires out with another new set. I did ask about the hub centric thing, and was told yes they're the correct wheels. I se...

Re: Alloy -> steel, vibration headaches...

Well I would hope the tires were evenly worn, as they are brand new... and same with the rims not being bent. I mean its a tire shop, so I try to have a little faith they would catch something like a bent rim, or the hub-centric requirement. They are aftermarket steel wheels, I can't even imagine wh...

From what I can observe, they seem to be doing a good job. I'm using the Discount Tire chain. Well I've been to the mechanic. Guess I'm kind of boned, lol he ran a charging test and that was Ok, then he put the clamp meter on, had a little knob he could dial in for increasing load. The most we were able to get was a bout 95A peak in the 2500 - 3000 RPM range So not too happy about that.. at ...

Re: Some electrical system annoyances (Headlamps, Blower, etc)

Still seems weird, I did find the sheet and at 750rpm idle the alternator should be delivering 136.7A (Peak 186.4A) which is more than enough to run what's in the car. I'll see if my mechanic will let me borrow his clamp meter. Other than that the notes said "adjust belt 1/2" - 3/4" s...

Yeah I'm unsure if the problem existed before. I do have the OEM alternator, but I didn't change it myself so I'm hoping I'd not have to go through that. Can it be tested on the car reliably? I do have a DMM so I can look into checking the voltages when I have some free time. Not familiar with that ...

Some electrical system annoyances (Headlamps, Blower, etc)

So a few facts to start with.. '04 Base 2WD I don't know the absolute specs on my current battery. Wouldn't white noise/ background hiss indicate a grounding issue? Maybe you should look into that aspect. I replaced the factory HU in my 2004 with a Pioneer HU. Other resources I've seen mentioned the doors had to be locked, with the drivers door unlocked and open.
