Checked air filter. Last changed Apr 27 2017, still clean. Applied RainX to the windshield. Fixed a loose connector behind the airbag that was causing the steering wheel controls to flake out.

All 09+ Vibes have electric power steering. Whoever did the engine replacement needs to double check all wiring harnesses and connections going to the steering rack. Something got pulled or chafed.

I believe the ECU has an output for remote lock chirp, as the 2009+ Matrix has it via an external piezo buzzer, but there isn't anything connected to that pin on the Vibe. I have not tested this theory.

If the airbag light is on in the instrument cluster, there has to be a numeric fault code. You can short out two pins on the OBD connector to reveal the code by flashing the airbag light in a pattern. Welcome to GenVibe! 1. Sounds right for the 1.8L, but not sure about the 2.4L 2. Not normal on any vehicle. Have a mechanic check it out. I have Goodyear Ultra Grip 400 winter tires on my 09 Vibe. They are EXTREMELY loud, but that's what I get for mounting a winter tire with an agressive tread pattern that looks like it belongs on a monster truck.

I don't get stuck anywhere with these tires, though!

The 2009+ Corolla and 2009+ Matrix/Vibe dash is completely different. That radio won't fit in the dash opening of the Vibe. If that or any other piece gets dropped inside the dash, you're not getting it back without dismantling the entire interior of the car.

When I installed my aftermarket radio, I remember that piece popping off, but I was able to stick it back on.

Best bet is probably a junkyard.

Get any radio from Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC, Sony. Order from Crutchfield and they throw in the wiring harness and dash kit for free. Super easy install, all you need is a 10mm socket and about 30 minutes.

Could be a loose wire in the aftermarket radio wiring harness. Ideally these harnesses should be taped up to prevent rattling, but most installers don't.

On the 2003-2008 Vibe, disconnecting the battery resets the ECU. The car then idles poorly for about 60 miles, feels like it will stall at every light, then goes back to normal after it relearns the fuel trim. This is by design.

Replace the whole radio with aftermarket that supports AUX, USB, and Bluetooth music streaming. Go to crutchfield.com and they throw in the wiring harness and dash kit you'll need for the install. It's super easy.

The last thing you did to the car was install a Bluetooth stereo. Try ripping it out and putting the factory one back in. What wiring harness did you use? Any loose wires? Hope you used crimp caps or solder/heatshrink and not electrical tape.

I'm new to this car too. I have not been able to download a comprehensive wiring diagram. The wiring diagram for the 09-10 Corolla is pretty close. I diagnosed a similar problem on a completely different car, a 2006 Mini Cooper, last week. Battery was dead from the car being stored all summer. After changing the battery, the car started fine. But symptoms were gauges not working (except fuel), ABS and brake lights on, traction control light on....

To change the license plate bulb, you can remove the light housing from outside the vehicle. No need to remove the heat shield.

For the record, the majority of car batteries in North America are made by Exide or Johnson Controls, and sold under dozens of brands. Walmart or Costco batteries are fine.

With the Vibe you really want to avoid pulling a trailer and having three passengers and a full load of stuff in the trunk. Yes, the Vibe can pull a trailer, but inevitably drivers want to cram the trailer and car full of gear.

There is a wire on the factory harness that has +12V when the parking lights are on, I believe it is green. Use a multimeter to check.

The iM is no replacement. It's very cramped inside and has none of the headroom or versatility that made the Vibe/Matrix so loved. I can't even fit in an iM.

It's something that happens with all first gen Vibes. It sorts itself after 60 miles or so. The engine feels like it will stall, but it won't.
