Hello, I did this mod on my 2009 AWD vibe. It believe it's a base model but not sure, I opted for a whole new leather wrapped steering wheel with both side controls. I also cut off the side wings from my old airbag. I've installed the new clock spring. I'm just confused about what to do now and get...
Hi, Nice work and great informative posts. The lights of the radio, HVAC controls and gear shift indicators are off. Bulbs are fine, no lose connectors and everything else is working fine. Cannot locate the reponsible fuse. Any idea where to look for a cause? Thanks, Joe 2009 Base Vibe Check for a ...
Best bet is finding spares at a junkyard. I always pick these up if I find them in a junkyard, unfortunately I don't have any spares to send out at the moment. The part numbers are 58923-02050-B0 and 58922-02010-B0
Checked air filter. Last changed Apr 27 2017, still clean. Applied RainX to the windshield. Fixed a loose connector behind the airbag that was causing the steering wheel controls to flake out.
All 09+ Vibes have electric power steering. Whoever did the engine replacement needs to double check all wiring harnesses and connections going to the steering rack. Something got pulled or chafed.
Welcome to GenVibe! The amp is under the front seat. You'll need to cut off the plugs and either bypass the amp or install a new amp in its place. A multimeter will be required to figure out what wire goes where. Run RCAs from the aftermarket deck to the new amp through the center console , abandoni...
There are three modules under the driver's seat - inverter, OnStar, and Stabilitrak. If the inverter is dead or has been removed, inverter won't work. Here are instructions to disassemble the center console and have a peek to see if the wires behind are still connected. It seems suspicious that both...
I believe the ECU has an output for remote lock chirp, as the 2009+ Matrix has it via an external piezo buzzer, but there isn't anything connected to that pin on the Vibe. I have not tested this theory.
....I didn’t run into the issue that some manual driver had of the cruise cutting out and other issues. One kinda weird thing I have noticed. I’ve disconnected the negative battery terminal twice to mess with cruise control stuff, and after each time the clock reset but I didn’t lose any radio pres...
Find a reputable tire shop with a TPMS scan tool to see if any of the TPMS sensors have a dead battery. If they are factory sensors, plus being 8+ years old, they're probably dead. Connect a OBD reader to the vehicle - are there any codes? Never heard of a dead TPMS module before, but anything is po...
You'll almost certainly have to modify existing harnesses. As a previous Gen1 Matrix owner, the clock will need constant 12V+, switched 12V+ accessory, and 12V+ illumination to dim it at night. Fortunately you can get all that off the radio. Not sure about the airbag light. You may have to retain th...
If the airbag light is on in the instrument cluster, there has to be a numeric fault code. You can short out two pins on the OBD connector to reveal the code by flashing the airbag light in a pattern. I have an airbag light on in my 09 and want to try the technique in this video: https://www.youtube...
Welcome to GenVibe! 1. Sounds right for the 1.8L, but not sure about the 2.4L 2. Not normal on any vehicle. Have a mechanic check it out. Start with checking tires for abnormal wear, rebalancing wheels, alignment, check suspension components, bent axles. 3. No 4. I run winter tires. You should, too.
Mine does that when cold. I think it's the belt. I want to try a gatorback belt to see if the noise goes away. The 1.8L only has four pulleys - drive, water pump, A/C, and alternator. If a new belt doesn't solve the problem, it's almost certainly the water pump. The OEM water pump on the 1.8L was ju...
I have Goodyear Ultra Grip 400 winter tires on my 09 Vibe. They are EXTREMELY loud, but that's what I get for mounting a winter tire with an agressive tread pattern that looks like it belongs on a monster truck.
I don't get stuck anywhere with these tires, though!
The 2009+ Corolla and 2009+ Matrix/Vibe dash is completely different. That radio won't fit in the dash opening of the Vibe. Also, Toyota backup cameras run on 6V power instead of 12V like every other automotive camera in the world. Spend your money elsewhere. Here is what I did in my 09 base: http:/...
Get any radio from Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC, Sony. Order from Crutchfield and they throw in the wiring harness and dash kit for free. Super easy install, all you need is a 10mm socket and about 30 minutes.
Could be a loose wire in the aftermarket radio wiring harness. Ideally these harnesses should be taped up to prevent rattling, but most installers don't.
Hi, new to the forum. How is the backup camera holding up now that you've had it for a while? Thinking of doing the same with this system (or something similar) Just trying to decide on placement: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B071D9TWSG/ Welcome to Genvibe! The camera crapped out after one winter due t...

On the 2003-2008 Vibe, disconnecting the battery resets the ECU. The car then idles poorly for about 60 miles, feels like it will stall at every light, then goes back to normal after it relearns the fuel trim. This is by design.
Replace the whole radio with aftermarket that supports AUX, USB, and Bluetooth music streaming. Go to crutchfield.com and they throw in the wiring harness and dash kit you'll need for the install. It's super easy.
Sorry, none of the wiring needed for the upgraded stereo and sub is in the base model. It's pointless to install eight year old OEM gear, when there are plenty of modern aftermarket options that are far superior and will make your old Vibe sound flat. And if you have to pay to have it installed, you...
I found this thread for a Camry, but the symptoms are the same, and it's apparently been dubbed the "Toyota W-T-F Mode" http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/104-camry-5th-6th-gen-2002-2006-2007-2011-2nd-gen-solara-2004-2008/426366-2009-camry-gauges-dash-lights-issue-ac-stops-wtf-mode.html The...
The last thing you did to the car was install a Bluetooth stereo. Try ripping it out and putting the factory one back in. What wiring harness did you use? Any loose wires? Hope you used crimp caps or solder/heatshrink and not electrical tape.
My daughter’s vibe has an intermittent no start issue. Today I went to troubleshoot it and it started. So I’m thinking it’s the pump relay but I can’t find the damn thing. Thanks for the help. What's the battery voltage with the car off? Have you considered it could be a bad starter? Here's an exam...
I'm new to this car too. I have not been able to download a comprehensive wiring diagram. The wiring diagram for the 09-10 Corolla is pretty close. There are a few things missing like the rear wiper and power inverter, but otherwise everything else is the same. https://www.scribd.com/doc/94557409/2...
I diagnosed a similar problem on a completely different car, a 2006 Mini Cooper, last week. Battery was dead from the car being stored all summer. After changing the battery, the car started fine. But symptoms were gauges not working (except fuel), ABS and brake lights on, traction control light on....
For the record, the majority of car batteries in North America are made by Exide or Johnson Controls, and sold under dozens of brands. Walmart or Costco batteries are fine.
Welcome to GenVibe! The radio as you have installed it, is correct. Because the dash is curved, it has to sit like that in the dash. The Pioneer 7" touchscreen radios actually fit well because the controls are on a ledge at the bottom of the radio. If you want something different, it would requ...
With the Vibe you really want to avoid pulling a trailer and having three passengers and a full load of stuff in the trunk. Yes, the Vibe can pull a trailer, but inevitably drivers want to cram the trailer and car full of gear.
Ok cool. Yeah I've got one somewhere around here. Do I need the key turned to test for the +12V or just turn the parking lights on? Just turn on the parking lights I have wanted to try connecting it to the photocell on the dash so the head unit only autodims when it's dark, since I run my lights on...
The iM is no replacement. It's very cramped inside and has none of the headroom or versatility that made the Vibe/Matrix so loved. I can't even fit in an iM.
