I found a small piece of rubber plugging the left sunroof drainage hole - clear it out and so far so good, after two fairly large rain storms no inside leak!
We are 3rd owners - in the last 3 years of owning the car the windshield has never been fussed with. the seal on the windshield looks solid - and the amount of water that dripped through was fairly minimal vs the amount of rain we had. This is the 2nd time I've noticed this in the last month - never...
odd. we just a good day of rain rain rain - car was parked - not driven at all that day. The next day, when I drove, I had water collected just at the top of the plastic pillar cover by the windsheild, and the headliner was a little wet - when I would accelerate or make a right turn, the water would...
oh, and if you use an S hook to secure the caliper to the coil spring while your taking off the rotor (so it's not flopping all over). Don't forget to remove the S hook when your done..... I know, sounds like a duh moment. But I didn't.....and took the car for a test drive, and heard this noise like...
Well....Found some You Tube noise videos (like looking medical symptoms....) found this video What is involved in the Vibe to replace these bushings? Is it almost the same amount of work to replace the rack? Was considering doing brakes,...
it's a 2004 vibe. It makes the noise whether the car is driving or parked, which was why I was suspecting maybe the tie rod or the rack - since it did it parked - just turing the wheel. I didn't think the CV was involved, it didn't matter which direction the wheel is turned - and no morning sickness...
My vibe makes a creaking sound when you turn the steering wheel - either direction - and when the car is off as well. Steering feels tight. Would the power steering pump make noise even when the engine is off? It's louder inside the car - still need to find someone however to turn it while I'm under...
The window doesn't seem to move around when its descending. Other than the window doing a little "I think I can..." at first - nothing else is abnormal - no noises - vibrations... I agree, the door panel is fairly easy to remove - (I replaced the door check on the drivers side - that was p...
Recently the passenger window is a little slow to lower - then picks up about a 1/3 way down to normal speed - raising isn't an issue.
no clicking noted - so I don't think the door check is involved in this.
is this the motor starting to go bad? or could it be the switch?
I'll have to try that another day - or if the light comes back on. We have noticed a decrease in the RPMS when first started since I cleaned the MAF sensor, and it seems to run a little smoother. Maybe just coincedence - but for now - I'll try not to find something that isn't asking to be found! at ...
I read that about the vacuum leak also, but it doesn't act like it has a leak - or not one significant enough to cause rough idling or hesitation - the rpms stay pretty steady. it took almost 3 months to come back, and when cleared again, so far it's been almost 2 weeks. I would think if it was a va...
Just a followup - the CEL came back on again after about 90 days. I pulled the code but it wasn't o2 related - rather MAF related.P0170 I wasn't sure if it was fuel related - since most stations are now running with winter gasahol - I just reset the code again only because I needed to get the car in...
Now that it's been colder out, we have noticed our 2004 Vibe when it's first started and the engine is cold, it will idle at 2200 rpm. Once the engine warms up, it drops. No CEL or rough idling, just high idle rpm.
Is this the normal rpm range for a cold vibe engine?
I'm looking to pick up a used rim at the junk yard, in case they don't have any Vibe/Matrix wheels available
which other makes and/or models can I use as a reference?
Does it matter how many sampling ports are on the oxygen sensor? Would the old one having 1 row vs the one I used having 4 have any significance other than different manufactures? As for the old code, I forget which one it was - but it was only 1 code - and it was specific to the upstream o2 sensor ...
The CEL on our 2004 vibe was on, per the codes and a mechanic said it was the O2 sensor upstream. I replaced the O2 sensor with an Amazon purchase - forget the brand off hand. The previous owner said he replaced it also about 6 months prior to our purchasing it. I did note that the one I removed loo...
yeah, I thought about trying the mirror/flashlight method next time as well - will have to look into getting some long nose locking forceps.
That would require leaving the fuse block cover off as well - but I guess with a little manipulation, you could unlock that as well with the forceps.
Well, my theory is that Toyota expects only very short thin contortionists will be driving vibes - why else would they put that fuse box where it's at??? Well, for what it's worth, the fuse puller that is in the fuse box in the engine compartment really is the best puller for those fuses as you can ...
When it's light out and the headlights aren't auto on - I can decide if I want to turn them on or off, 2004 Vibe But...if it's dark out - I have not figured out how to turn the lights off while the car is still running (we have only had ours since March) Why??? If I want to turn the lights off then ...
Well, I found out what the noise was/is. The inner wheel well (the plastic piece that attaches to the front of the car and and goes over the axle apparantly is broken, and is currently zip tied to the frame, and was missing a few fasteners. I put in fasteners to anywhere there was a mounting hole th...
never mind....DUH.... not sure why I was thinking the engine was a V configuration - hence looking for front and back oxygen sets. Maybe I was just wishing it was a V6!! Been working on my Taurus too long..... Yes, it's an inline 4 - so that would answer my question - it should only have 2 sensors, ...
I see the upstream one by the firewall, and the downstream under the floor board. I couldn't see any upstream however to the front of the car.
Does the vibe have a set for each manifold? or is there only 1 set after the exhaust combines?
Seems our Vibe has fallen prey to this issue as well. I initially thought the window was hitting a wire or locking mechanism cable. Glad it hadn't shattered. but it seems that the open door vs closed door diagnostic test (cluncks while closed, no clunk while open) confirmed. Rather than file off a c...
I picked up the hardware kit. Pulled the old brakes, and they were good - almost new, and the rotor was still smooth. Caliper pins were lubed good, and the pad clip had lube on it, so whoever did the brakes prior to us buying the car in March did ok - although neither inner pad had the wear indicato...
I will need to change the front brakes on my 2004 Vibe - Looks straightforward enough.... Bought the rotors and pads. The only hardware that came with the pads were these 2 black clips (which I'm assuming is a wear sensor?). I've watched quite a few YouTube vids, and no one is putting any hardware o...
no, no XM or Serius - however, the previous owner did have Serius, but it was aftermarket and tapped into the console. The dock is still wired - it has 12V power, antennae and audio out and docking bus. Don't know if the first owner had it installed, but I doubt it - the cubby hole in the back doesn...
try putting duct tape, get the good really sticky kind, and attach to a paint roller. Start with sticky side down, then flip it, and wrap it over itself across the roller. Now you have a really long lint roller with a good handle that you can really put some pressure on. that may pick up quite a bit...
Our newly purchased 2004 Vibe tailgate was pretty useless to put groceries or anything else, with that hard plastic, everything kept sliding around, bags fell over....not pretty. So...decided to make our own, on the cheap. http://www.instructables.com/id/Pontiac-VibeToyota-Matrix-Custom-Trunk-Mat/ GG
